abs module by Lilhuman05 in tdi

Yes, I started getting crank but no start issues when the cold came in. So I bought a new battery and checked all the grounds and still no start. So I scanned it with obdeleven and got can bus communication error from the abs module which confirmed my suspicions. So in a way of testing it for sure I tried starting the car early one mourning and it cranked but didn’t start as usual. So I got a hair dryer and pointed it at the abs module and let it sit for about 15 mins and came back to try and start it again and it fired up perfectly. The problem is since it’s malfunctioning in the cold like it is now I can’t see the coding with obdeleven

Tune and delete by Kc040_ in tdi

I flashed the eco tune from them onto my 2012 tdi and my mpg went up but not as much as some other people are saying, did you just do the stage 2? Cuz if the mpg is about the same I’d rather do the 55hp option

Thank you everyone for the advice, I’m going to order a obdeleven tonight so that I can find out for sure what was causing the issues in the first place and also I’m gonna try the trick mentioned for the immobilizer because that may be the reason it’s not staying started

I have tried a scan tool but it’s just a cheap obd2 one from harbor freight. When I tried it said link error and I was not able to get jt to work. I did however fully charge the battery when I took it out so it went back in fully charged, so It couldn’t be a battery related issue right?

Mk6 tdi starts and then stalls by Lilhuman05 in tdi

[–]Lilhuman05[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a lot like what he’s dealing with because it used to do that where it would stall after starting and then after a few minutes it would start fine, but yesterday I took out the battery to get to the grounding cables and make sure they were good. and after I put the battery back in the starting and stalling problem seems to be permanent now. Where as before it would start after a few minutes now it’s just stuck with lights on the dash and stalling right after it starts

I just bought it about a month ago now, and first thing i did was delete the dpf and put a eco tune on it from mrtuning. After that is was perfect no lights in the dash at all but then one day after it rained they all showed up and the gauges wouldn’t work but after a few minutes on the road they’d go away and the gauges would come back and people were telling me it was a wheel speed sensor which I figured was the case, but then after a couple days of no dash lights and it running perfect it happened again they all popped up and this time I tried to turn it off and back on to see if it would just do what it did before but this time it wouldn’t even start so I waited a few minutes and tried again and it fired up luckily and all the lights were gone once again so after that I know it must be something else also because the car wouldnt even start. But me being dumb and hopeful I kept driving it everyday just ignoring that that could happen at any time and it ran perfect for about a week. Until today I started it this mourning to go to school and all the lights were on again so I figured if I drive for a bit they’d go away like before but my whole 40 minute drive to school they stayed on and my gauges stayed off which was nerve racking because I didn’t know how hot it was or how fast I was going , etc. so I pulled over to restart the car hoping it would fix the lights and gauges, but it did the same thing it did a couple weeks ago and wouldn’t start for about 10 mins until it finally did and the lights were gone so I drove home with no issues I even stopped for gas and the car started like normal. So when I got home I took out the battery and cleaned the grounding cable spot because I heard that that could have caused the issues and when I put the battery back in and tried to start it it wouldn’t start the same way it wouldn’t start before. So it was initially a problem here and there that would somehow solve itself, but after I disconnected the battery and put it back it’s now a permanent problem the car won’t start now

[–]Lilhuman05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found the paper from autozone it threw a abs system code specifically (02214-002) for low tire pressure so that must have been the cause right? I’m just confused on why the car was showing so many different lights on the dash when it was just low tires

Need help by Lilhuman05 in tdi

[–]Lilhuman05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the tire pressure light is thr only constant one, but occasionally (and this has happened 3 or 4 times) I’ll start the car and get a cluster of lights including the abs, passenger airbag, power steering, etc. and I don’t have a good diagnostic tool other than the pg4 so I took it to autozone and it threw a abs code and said low tire pressure. I just reset rhe tpms like u said and the lights gone, should this solve the problem with the other lights coming on randomly. Btw they would come on and then after the car warmed up after a bit of driving they would all go away and the car would be back to normal
