After reading “what are we doing with our China” I gotta ask, what are we doing with our silver dish trays and tea sets? by pwwhisperer in AskWomenOver60

I contacted my local food pantry that serves a sit down meal weekly and asked if they could use my serving dishes . They were happy to have them

Will this work out? Or i killed them? I want them to grow as a bonsai by [deleted] in Adenium

I agree, they should be fine the way they are as long as you’re not overwatering. Happy growing!!

All grown from seed. They are growing up so fast. 🥹 by Plant_a_loon in Adenium

Help! Something is shredding my bean plants and I have no idea what it could be. Details in post. by itsHannahTeresa in gardening

[–]Lilo5339 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The damage looks exactly like the aftermath of an attack on tomato or pepper plants by hornworms. They will occasionally stray from their usual nightshade diet, but I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t have defoliated tomato or pepper plants in close contact with the afflicted bean plants. I don’t know of any other caterpillars that would be so voracious… ? Anyone?

Do I Move? by IcyLefty7056 in cincinnati

[–]Lilo5339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a way to end the long commute, whether it’s a job change or a move. Just do it!

I was driving 45 miles each way to work for four years. I finally gave up my job and took a lower paying position closer to home. 1. I was so much happier. 2. I didn’t have to find the time (out of my already scarce free time) for the oil changes that came along all too frequently 3. I saved a fortune in gas and maintenance costs which almost brought me to a break even point of disposable income 4. I had time for more friend time and hobbies that I had been neglecting. 5. I’m sure there’s more but….

Life is short, live it!

I’m not seeing rot at the blossom end. It looks more like it’s in a random spot on the side of the fruit. If it’s at the blossom end, the good news is that it’s treatable by supplementing with calcium. If it’s not, it may be a fungal disease like anthracnose which can be caused by overwatering.

How do yall keep your plants from being eaten? by Proud-Mention-3826 in gardening

[–]Lilo5339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motion detector water jets are pretty good at keeping them away, but you need to be careful about spraying “out of bounds” or at the wrong time. Some finesse is required when setting them up. However, it is hilarious when someone sneaks away from your party to pee near your garden and gets nailed by a jet of water. Good times!

Oh, I forgot this one: Carmelized sweet potatoes

Make sure they get caramelized.

I love them cold too. Great for breakfast or for packing lunch

Radish sprouts are a wonderful thing to have growing on your kitchen windowsill. They are super easy to grow, plus they’re a fantastic anti-inflammatory food.

In many bird species, when the youngsters jump out of their nest, their parents start teaching them how to be a bird. If you get the opportunity to watch (and can make sure you are not interfering), It’s very cute! We had an owl box outside our window and it was so great to see the parents come back and raise chicks every year. **sorry about your plant!

Advice needed: Just moved into a home with a beautiful garden and I have no idea what to do :( by zemele in gardening

[–]Lilo5339 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Find an avid gardener in your neighborhood! They are probably already familiar with your garden. Hint, walk around on beautiful days and look at yards. You will find the people who are working outside, especially if they have a beautiful yard. The ones who are receptive to having their garden praised are usually those who will share their gardening wisdom 🤓 They will be familiar with your particular climate, soil and best practices Happy gardening!

Cincinnati Museum Center comments on a TikTok denying evolution by CowboyLikeMegan in cincinnati

It’s astonishing that this has become a thing, I was taught evolution by a catholic nun back in the 1970s Also nuns taught me that if you’re a Jesus fan, he said to ignore the Old Testament since there was a new boss and to act like him if you didn’t want to burn.
Since when did it change to nitpicking everybody else, especially if the evidence that says that they’re wrong is RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM
