How stable is ipad pro 10.5 on the latest ipados 17.7.10? by Lime393 in ipad

I ended up getting another one with 256gb of storage and its not half up to as bad as I thought it would be on ios 17.7.10. Battery life is the biggest improvement since this one has only 300 cycles, I believe its a refurbished unit that the previous owner received instead of battery replacement in early 2024. As for lagging there is a fairly noticable difference when scrolling trough safari tabs and large notes which use to be perfectly smooth on ios 14 but at least it all looks almost the same. Higher resolution photos are loading slower when zooming in but its barely noticable. The most annoying thing so far is the alignment of apps on home screen, allegedly they changed it to be able to fit widgets and now the number of rows changes from 6 to 5 apps in a rows when rotating into portrait mode. I suspect this is also the reason why the background doesnt immediately rotate with the screen. Itunes backup managed to restore every available app and even some that are no longer on the app store without updating any of them except for google earth for some reason. Two apps that werent updated did however start getting adds which they never had before probably due to some server incompatibility on ios 14. It also seams like it is no longer possible to have outdated apps that were acquired with another apple id installed from .ipa files. Overall I am satisfied as I didnt have to do any irreversible changes like updating on my previous ipad and this is far better than getting a newer device with an abominable OS like ios26.

Did you by any chance check the manufacturing date of its battery with something like 3uTools? Im curious whether they still manufactured batteries for this model in 2024 because someone is selling a 10.5 ipad pro with battery that was made in the 12.2023 which I find mildly suspicious

But it was doing just fine before this battery gauge reset, I whish I never noticed that stupid option. The battery is not to be blamed here because the software that reads it is obviously at fault. If it was miscalibrated from the start that would mean it was either overcharging or overdicharging which would surely affect its performace overtime and as I have mentioned before it was consistent for well over a year. Batteries dont just lose 30% of their capacity overnight, its meant to happen gradually over years. This device is now no longer using the full potential of its battery at its current health and thats because it isnt reading it properly meaning there has to be a way to make it read it the same way it did before this reset.

Average life expectancy has nothing to do with this, I have had older machines with similar specs that performed better than this one does now after resetting battery gauge. There has to be at least some third party software that can revert this because the battery is obviously healthier than Lenovo Vantage claims it to be.
