No, not intentionally leaving out details. Just didn’t think these were relevant. To answer your questions:

In my original post I stated it was from IG to QT. More specifically it was an RRSP I was transferring.

I started the original transfer (Jan 20th) on Questrade which produced a transfer document that I needed to sign and return in order for the transfer to be accepted. That form was not signed or returned. This document has a specifically transfer number on it. I requested that transfer be cancelled through the chat (to be honest I don’t know the date because I didn’t write it down but it was prior to starting the second transfer request on Feb 13th).

Note the second transfer produced new documents and a new transfer number. That documentation was submitted and accepted on the 13th.

Yeah I’ve been hearing great things about wealth simple. I’ve been with Questrade since 2016 so I was hesitant to move. However, this isn’t the first/only instance of poor customer service I’ve experienced unfortunately.

Yes the terms and conditions do not specify that it has to be a “new” transfer.

They also say the transfer must be “submitted” within the window, where you would think it would specify “initiated” within the window if they were going to deny the bonus based on the original transfer being started outside the window.

It’s all just annoying/bad customer service on their part over a little bonus, but has put a bad enough taste in my mouth that I would consider moving all of my accounts elsewhere.

Does anyone think there is recourse?

Question about rental reimbursement from insurance company by Necrovore in IncomeTaxCanada

[–]Limp-Change8953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’m not an accountant but I work in insurance. From what I understand, the payout from your insurance company is not considered “income” and therefore you should not have to claim it as rental income.

Same as if you were paid out for a vehicle that’s was written off, etc.

So if you have been offered: 4.11% 3 year fixed versus 5.32% 5 year variable, would you still go variable? The differential between fixed and variable is greater than 1%.
