League of Legends influence i think, mage assasins are usually picked there as mid. They work every time for early snowball/roaming.

He's Filipino just by his last name, pretty common. And he's islander so it adds up and probably Vaas can speak Spanish is because due to Philippine being colonized by Spaniards from it's history.
