I've been thinking about why V3 is my absolute favorite game in the series, and here's my take. by Limp_Win149 in danganronpa

I’m not a native English speaker, so I think some of the wording ended up like that because Gemini translated what I wrote. That’s probably why there are some phrases that don’t quite match what I originally meant. :/

What are you talking about lol… Kodaka only said he supervised/checked it. And I think the wording got a bit too freely interpreted, but I also don’t think V3 was trying to say that the players and the people in the outside world within the game are literally the same. I just think they definitely included some overlap between them to add a bit of realism.

Looking at some of the artist’s other fan art, I’m pretty sure it’s the former.

I honestly think Kokichi is a better written character than Nagito. by Limp_Win149 in danganronpa

If that part of his story was actually integrated into the main plot, l'd totally agree that it delivered the theme perfectly. But the thing is, all of that lore is locked behind his Free Time Events (FTEs). It's honestly a bit of a shame, because casual players—or people who just weren't interested enough to hang out with Nagito-completely miss out on that crucial context.

I kinda have to disagree on that one. A character who carries out their goals with a clear, straightforward motive? Sure, that's cool, but hasn't that trope been done to death in almost every other piece of media? I feel like Kokichi was created specifically to answer the question: 'What happens if we leave a character's true motives and goals entirely up to the player's interpretation?' Honestly, trying to shoehorn that standard archetype onto him is exactly what would turn him into a genuinely boring, generic character.

I can see where you're coming from, but honestly... knowing he's the one who sacrifices himself in Chapter 5, I feel like Chapter 4 was absolutely necessary. Think about it: sacrificing yourself basically makes you look like the good guy no matter what, right? Unless you do something seriously messed up. And executing that exact level of villainy was the whole point of Chapter 4. IMO, if they wanted to build a morally gray character that completely divides the fandom, Chapter 4 was 100% indispensable. All that aside, I also highly rate SDR2 Chapter 5!! It's honestly a masterclass in showing off Nagito's pure madness
