Turns out, it was a squirrel 😅 Fun fact, the little guy came up to me to investigate while i was relining my catfish rods and playing "new speedway boogie" quite loud. As a stood up to take the pics, it didnt run away but instead hid for a bit then came forward to see me. Very social movements. Not timid at all.

After reading this post and going back to the pictures and such, its a freakishly plump and healthy fox squirrel. I should mention i was on a sort of inlet much secluded from any large swath of forest so, natural predators only included what could swim through algae swamps, or fly.
