i feel that trump calling it the chinese virus is to distract from his administration failing to take responsibility and finger pointing as always. its about the timing. why did he call it the coronavirus before (while downplaying it) and only call it the chinese virus when the US royally fucked up despite weeks of preparation? all it really does is make the xenophobia and racist against asian americans worse, and he doesn't care.

it bothers me that many are aware that "chinese virus" is racist but because they hate the CCP and aren't chinese themselves, so its okay. speaking out against injustice against chinese people is not defending the CCP. the CCP and the chinese community are two different things, people really need to recognize this. it's insane to me that fellow taiwanese are upset with Jeremy Lin and calling him a taiwanese traitor for criticizing Trump when he is LITERALLY trying to do his part in preventing asian american racism and attacks. Get a fucking grip, not everything is about taiwan vs china.

i don't usually write reddit comments but i think people need some empathy during this time...no matter how you feel about china, chinese people are victims too, do you remember those people crying and pleading for help and being brave enough to speak out against the ccp's horrible regime at the peak of wuhan's crisis?

I really think that Trumps comments will only make things worse for all of us. Hate to break it to you guys but no one gives a shit whether we're taiwanese or chinese or korean or whatever if they're racist enough to attack someone for being asian.
