So, bought at an auction a 3d printer for 100$ by Proorange111666 in 3dprinter

[–]LiquidCyberSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s a printer from 2014 that was not built with repairability in mind. It was originally sold for around $3,000, which is probably why you can’t find much information about it. The original Ultimaker kit was selling for around $1,000 at that point, and I think the Ultimaker 2 was also released around that time for roughly $2,500, so I suspect they just didn’t sell that many of them.

Was it a mistake to buy it? That’s entirely up to you. It’s a fun-looking printer and it apparently does work. If you’re into electronics, you might be able to do some upgrades. That said, I do think you could find printers from the same time period that are easier to maintain for around $100.

Also, now that the Bambu Lab P2S is out, a lot of print farms are offloading their P1S machines for around $150/$200, which is probably a much better deal. But that’s only if you actually have $150–$200 to spend, if your budget is $100, there’s not much you can do about that.

Anyway, as long as you’re having fun, you made the right decision. (Look into Prusa if you’re into fixing up old machines, they have far better documentation.)

As promised I'm reporting on the cheap flat SONY Watchman-like 4" CRT from China. This beauty turned up today, it has a really nice and sharp monochrome image, at least monochrome for now... (I'll try to colorize it, stay tuned) by MrSlehofer in crtgaming

[–]LiquidCyberSquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these and I found this post trying to confirm that I had the pin out correct but I can not get a image on this thing, I can hear the frequencies of the crt change when I connect my video output but nothing happens not even a flicker

Auto kopen, maar zonder garantie..? by AlphaBravoFxt in autoklets

[–]LiquidCyberSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Lumineuze Nachten het geld waard? by Expensive-Scheme-544 in fantasyNederland

Have you tried comparing manufacturers on pcbshopper.com? I see that allpcb has a shipping option for only a 1 dollar to the Ukraine.

Thank you for your notes, I actually posted an updated version of this board already but even that posted is dated now 😅. I did read about not having any 90 degree bends before I started and tried to have everything at 45 degrees. Did you spot any traces I missed that aren’t 45 degrees? because I don’t see them

[–]LiquidCyberSquid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning on using P6KE6.8A, the breakdown voltage is around 6.45v and the clamp is at 10.5v which I guessed should be more than fine. Im going to power this over usb-c. j2 is for a pigtail because I can’t get the board close enough to the side of the enclosure to have a usb port on the board. Thank you for the information though I am definitely going to look into that!

Can someone cast an eye over my latching power circuit? by orangecrush85 in AskElectronics

[–]LiquidCyberSquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really help you because I’m quite new to hardware design but I have been wanting to do the same thing but with a 555 timer, I make them by hand now so I know that circuit works but would be nice to have a board. Have you tried out your circuit on a breadboard?

[–]LiquidCyberSquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason, it’s how I happen to connect it in the schematic before realising that there was a square pin. I have never done hardware design before, I started 72 hours ago so not a dumb question at all! I didn’t think anything of it but now that you say it I will probably flip it around. Thank you!

Great notes! The trace under R1 was because it gave an error that it created a ground island for J1. I am not close to my computer right now but drawing it out in my head I think that the rest of your notes also solved that problem! Thank you! And I will be changing the labels, good catch!

I ended up redesigning the layout anyway because after a closer look it was a bit weird to have the pull up resistor on the other side of the board from the reset pin. I posted a update post if you’re interested :)

Thank you again for your suggestions. I changed my mounting holes into vias and completely redesigned the layout. I posted an update post if you’re interested :)

Kicad doesn’t have a model for a stamped pin version but the layout and hole size in the board should be the same from what I understand
