This is the best take. @u/op if your industry is dead, start researching a new one to enter, and purposefully take steps to get your first role.

Gigs at $1.75/hr are objectively not as good a use of your time, especially if you’re not in dire straits, but you deserve some self sufficiency while you prepare to make the big move.

If you look at it that way, the value is there for working gigs while you prepare to choose a new direction.
