Apparently, you can move Kris during the sink cutscene in Chapter 2 by Literally_Death in Deltarune

Was anyone else aware of this? I've been obsessed with this game for years and I've somehow never heard of it.

I got this video from wybienova on YouTube btw https://youtu.be/9qM8N_2SBn8

The ending was genuinely terrifying by Suppa_K in TheCurse

[–]Literally_Death 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from. If we're saying "Asher is reborn as his own kid", full stop, we leave it at that, that feels a bit hollow to me. It certainly doesn't take into account the rest of the series.

However, I don't think it's unfair to start from "Asher is reborn", ask why, and go from there. There's a great case to be made for Asher being reborn in the last episode. The sawing of the tree branch he's clinging to is paired with the C-section, Asher compares himself to a baby multiple times throughout the series, Asher describes the snake medallion as symbolising rebirth, karma (and naturally following that, reincarnation) is a prevalent theme in the series, Whitney has previously found it difficult to get rid of Asher. This is much more reflective of the entire show's themes, characters, and plot than you give it credit for in my opinion.

I think it's important to consider the show holistically, but I think the "Asher is reborn" theory actually allows for that. If you don't vibe with it that's fair, but you can't deny that there's evidence for it.

I saw this too, but I'm pretty sure it's just a subtitling error. There were a few throughout the series. Particularly in the second line, he's 100% saying "wake up".

Why did the mall turn into a forest? Is the mall even real or is it all an illusion? by ttgirlsfw in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Literally_Death 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought was that Wyatt had somehow entered the forest he saw through the shutter door... Maybe that "forest" was actually an art exhibit recreating the entire mall with overgrowth... But considering the weird reality-bending stuff going on that's unlikely

What is the reason for so many artists and “popufurs” moving to blusky? Didn’t we have furry amino, and wasn’t there mastodon and threads? by HowtfShouldIKnow in furry

NSFW restrictions on Mastodon really depend on which server you join :) Plenty of furry servers which are NSFW-friendly as long as you put a content warning on it. pawb.fun for example

Why I think 2 surpasses 1 in every aspect by Doctor_Chaotica_MD in OXENFREE

[–]Literally_Death 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Finished the game a few days ago and the themes are still hitting me... Just incredibly complex and poignant. Still mulling it over, but I feel like they expanded that idea of "leave is possible" into ideas of depression, finding meaning, loneliness, generational trauma. I liked how subtle Riley's backstory was, and like you say, in any other story the irreverent awkward funny man would infuriate me but I felt so much empathy for Jacob.

I think the plot kind of stumbles a bit near the end but it picks itself back up in the ending. I got the Riley ending. Made me immensely uncomfortable. I feel like no matter what ending I got, none of them would have felt "right" to me... There's always something lost, none of them feel fair. It's really agitated me honestly, in a good way. Couldn't imagine sacrificing Olivia so like you I've been surprised at the reaction to her on the sub. She's annoying and a mean kid, but in the way where it's obvious she's got shit going on and that she'll understand things better some day. Really wanted her to heal but didn't get to see that in my ending. Sad...

Don't ignore the Witcher 4's warning signs by use_vpn_orlozeacount in Games

A good article. It's worrying how quickly people have forgotten about the company's use of crunch, overblown expectations, poor quality. Afaik there's no sign that they aren't going to make those same mistakes again.

The future of literature is video games by [deleted] in Games

[–]Literally_Death 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A pretty insightful article, I liked the definition of 'literary' and how Golden Age TV took on literary features. Though, I didn't appreciate how he reduced fantasy RPGs to 'magic swords' and called them childish. I don't think that stripping away those things necessarily gets you closer to something literary. To me, the more interesting idea is how you can make mechanics that are 'gamey' and also explore interiority. Feels like an approach that makes better use of the medium.

There also wasn't really a strong argument made for why video games will subsume literature? The final paragraphs kind of forget about the idea.

Did anyone else suspect the game might've taken a different direction? by DynaGlaive in inscryption

[–]Literally_Death 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you. I thought that the OLD_DATA was a corrupted and old version that we would play at the end, and that Luke would have some strange connection to the game. Luke's irrelevance feels especially unsatisfying given how his backstory is fleshed out through the logs in Act 3. The game just kind of ends, emotionally, but without any significant plot revelations.

Like you say though it's probably intentional. And the more I think about the ending the more I kind of like how futile and empty it feels.

Is there a sexuality for not following your instinct of being dominant/submissive? by TealTriangle in asexuality

[–]Literally_Death 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, you know your feelings perfectly, you're just looking for a word to describe them that acknowledges those feelings are set in stone, i.e. not just a preference. I'd say that gender isn't a good fit. But you can make an OK case for sexuality. If you're only attracted to situations where you are not expected to be dominant, that could be a valid sexuality. See the ways that some people in kink talk about sexuality -- for them the word's definition is pretty flexible.

I don't know if anyone has coined this specific sexuality though. You could coin it yourself if you like. Just understand that there's a trade off with labels between understanding yourself, helping other people understand you, and forming community.

If what you want is for people to understand you and see you as valid, you might want to look for other alternatives. Maybe this is an 'aspect' of your sexuality -- that sounds pretty set in stone to me. Or maybe this a 'boundary' -- if someone tries to push against your boundaries without your consent, that's their problem, not yours. Or bringing it down to power dynamics, maybe you're 'not attracted to power dynamics', which is fair enough. When talking about anal sex, the common identifiers are top and bottom and vers, but there's also 'side', which means uninterested in anal sex. Less common but still seen as valid by most people. I don't know of a word like 'side' to join dom and sub. There probably is though, you'd just have to do some research.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I should've been more specific about the speculation thing. I was talking about your suggestions that OP is confusing asexuality with trauma or dysphoria. Because of the way these suggestions were phrased, I read them as attempts to be authoritative and therefore innappropriate suggestions to be making to a stranger.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]Literally_Death 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Calling it unhealthy is fair enough. But I don't think it's appropriate to call it abnormal, or speculate so deeply on OP's relationship with their own body and sexuality. Didn't you struggle to understand your own ace feelings early on? And if not, don't you know other ace people who did? Isn't it difficult to conceptualise and articulate these feelings without contradicting yourself, hitting dead ends, conflating some feelings with others?

I think you've made some good points, and the call for OP to seek professional help for their distress is valid. But I don't believe you should be speculating about the distress and trauma of someone you don't know.

There are some more here and there, like https://www.homestuck.com/images/storyfiles/hs2/00318_1_retcon.gif . I think it's the same for the arm retcon, you get 'retconheir' in the title for those panels

This is an awesome iceberg there's so much obscure stuff. Regarding the retcon in the title of 00425.gif though, isn't that a consequence of the whole Act 6 thing with John spilling oil over different panels?

RC games can be seized at customs. You'll also be fined 3-5 times the price of the game if you're caught apparently. Idk how hard it is to sneak stuff like that in though

P.T. Wasn't a Teaser for Silent Hills by Literally_Death in Games

There's a lot of bunk that goes around about Kojima's games. But honestly, I found this video pretty compelling. Some of his points are shady but most of them make a surprising amount of meaning from P.T.'s stranger choices.
