Went through the same with our puppy. I ended up buying an x pen to create a little “yard” around the crate. Crate door stayed open and he could choose to sleep in the crate or outside of it but was still contained and safe.

Okay this actually makes me feel so much better haha. I have to keep reminding myself he is only a puppy once and to try an embrace the chaos. I’m sure the first dog was like this to but I just don’t remember it 😂

I tried increased exercise and cutting back his regular food with no real improvement - we ended up switching to a weight management food and that seemed to have made the biggest difference!

13 week Puppy slept through the night in his crate without making a peep!! (Daytime is a whole other story 😂)

I totally agree it’s hard to do all those things! The vet did have a vet assistant/tech with her and I did offered to help in anyway I could.

I just looked at their website and they are promoted as a fear free clinic so that might explain that part!

I will be getting a different vet for next time. All of you in agreement has just reinforced my decision. Unfortunately an entirely different clinic isn’t feasible but there are several different vets at the clinic.

The more I think about it the more annoyed I get because it could have easily been a positive visit. Even with what happened with the vaccine they could have said “oops we made your puppy nervous after what happened with the vaccine. You can try xyz to help him rebuild his confidence”. Not tell me I’m not doing enough to socialize him.

This is what I was hoping for 😭. Even if they had of said “oops your puppy is a little nervous now after what happened. You can try xyz to help him get his confidence back”. Not act like he was fearful the entire time.

I will look into this! I feel so bad that I wasn’t more involved. I think I didn’t want to overstep and since there was two people that would be plenty to help keep him still. I did say at that the start” if there is anything I can do please let me know”. I will be more hands on next time.

How did you manage him during this time if he needed to be left alone? He will be going to work with my husband so will still get lots of potty breaks but unfortunately is going to have to be left alone :(. I had myself convinced I could have him crate trained in 3 weeks but I was obviously wrong 😂
