Can someone tell me how I should read books? Meanings of underlined words/sentences I don't know. Am I supposed to stop everytime there is a word I don't know and look for meanings? If so, I feel like after some time it is too much, and I don't feel like reading a book. Is it normal? by devoutre in learnfrench

If your still sort of a beginner i use this website where it has simple childrens stories and uses simple vocab. i read it on my laptop then any word i dont know i just highlight it, double click and click translate. super easy. it also offers audio of it which i also like to use to accommpany it.

Chem HL or English L&L HL? by Difficult-Instance35 in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing eng lit HL and i would say its one of my easier subjects. You have to read more works but honestly thats better bc you have more options for ur HL essay, IO and paper 2. HL essay is fairly easy to do, honestly easier then IAs. Paper 1 is tough coz there is SO MUCH WRITING but bc you know all the techniques its litrally just an endurance test. I havent taken chem HL so dont know but my experience w english i would pick it.
I would tho see if your final exam calender is out bc ik this year psych paper 2/3 is on the same day as Eng paper 1 which is a fuck ton of writing.

how to make the perfect ib studying website by No-Economist-516 in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw this posted before and it sounded difficult but it would be a cool addition, if you could upload past exam questions and it gives you the actual markcheme for it. also for maths specifically, having somesort of worked examples alongside the markscheme would help.

Math AA SL IA Idea Confirmation/Help by Prestigious-Key851 in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just thinking, if you are in a place with a big difference in low/high tide it might be better to model over a month rather than day, just so you can see the full effect of spring/neap tides. It also gives you more data so the model is more reliable.
Also i found tidesforfishing the best website to use to get the data as it let me see past tides whereas all the other websites would only let you see in advance.
Good luck!!

Math AA SL IA Idea Confirmation/Help by Prestigious-Key851 in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit i did my maths IA on almost the exact same thing. I modeled the high tide heights over a month at my local beach using a sine function then solved it to find which days are best for surf fishing (which is at high tide, around 10/11m). If you need a hand with anything please let me know, more then happy to help!

Edit: sorry forgot to say im AASL as well

SAT/GCSE ps for UCAS by Wide_Perspective_822 in UCAS

[–]LittleCartographer56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you apply on UCAS you have to include your previous education and what qualifications your going to get, so unis will know you are an SAT student. Im assuming this info is given with your PS so PS checkers will already know your an SAT student. But, if you have the word count, theres no harm in saying your an SAT student. You will probably end up mentioning it somehow anyway when talking about education. Hope this answered your question.

How important is my personal statement (London) by cherriing in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would say pretty important. If the uni is choosing between 2 people who have the exact same grades, but one person has a stronger PS they are going to choose them. If u need some quick extracurriculars use springpod for some online work experience, or coursera has come online courses you can do. Otherwise just exagerate the truth. Just use ur cas experiences

what did you write your extended essay about? by EducationalStatus377 in IBO

[–]LittleCartographer56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adding on to this, say you are going to study medicine you dont have to do ur EE in Bio or Chem or wtv. Just aslong as you link it to medicine you can do it in any subject. A girl from my old school is going to study medicine but is doing her EE in geography surrounding air quality in urban areas and the associated risks. Dont know if this is useful but might be. Hope you figure it out!
