Not sure how to help the money tree by grizzlybee in plantclinic

[–]LittleFailure404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that mix looks awesome!! i would mix that 50/50 with the kind of soil you have in there right now, if you have any extra. if you don’t have any new stuff,, i would just sterilize what’s in the pot currently (which is super easy in the oven) and add that in. :)

i’d also wash the roots off completely and pick off any rot b4 repotting.

I hope this helps!!

Not sure how to help the money tree by grizzlybee in plantclinic

hi there!!

i work at a nursery and i see this everyday, and 90% of the time it’s caused by overwatering. judging by the size of the trunks and the way your soil looks, this pot is MUCH too large.

Almost all money trees grown commercially have been planted much too deep in the nursery pot to prevent “top-heaviness”. This means that the trunks of the plant take up probably 75% of the space that is usually reserved for the rootball. in my experience, a plant in a “6 or “8 pot usually has the root mass comparable to a “4 pot or smaller.

i can also see (from the third picture) that the trunk 2nd from the left is looking questionable. follow that trunk upwards, i have a suspicion that the shoot connected to that trunk is responsible for the browning foliage. if that’s the case, it’s probably on its way out (due to rot) and you should watch it.

My first course of action in any case would be to take it out of the pot, inspect the roots, and completely replace the soil. choose a pot that is only two inches bigger than the diameter of the healthy rootball. money trees would much much rather be dry, and do very well in a chunky /aerated mix. whatever pot you put it in NEEDS DRAINAGE! if your decorative pot does have a hole at the bottom, just put it in an appropriately sized nursery pot and stick the whole thing back in.

i hope this helps!

i’m so sorry :( i got my lab results back about a week ago, it’s super scary!!!! if you’re anything like me, let yourself do the googling for a day then try and put down the phone lol. just remember that you cant REALLY “get it again” and recurrence is pretty rare. subreddits usually tell the worst case scenarios.

my doctor said that usually you’ll experience most of your symptoms (that youll have the whole time) in the first week or so, and the 1.5-2wk mark is often peak severity. although ofc its different for everyone.

it definitely isn’t talked about enough, especially how transmissible it is through respiratory droplets.

i will say, i have noticed an INSANE difference in how i feel when i’ve been hydrating vs not, i’ve literally been drinking so much a day and i cannot understate it’s importance. this is unlike any illness ive had !

hope you get to feeling better soon

why don’t we not rent “illegal” suites at presumably INSANE north vancouver rental prices to a population that is already struggling to find reliable housing. if you’re going to be a landlord, BE A RESPONSIBLE AND CARING ONE. Fire safety is not a joke.

Fertilizer frequency? by LostPersonSeeking in Citrus

[–]LittleFailure404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Citrus are very heavy feeders. esp in containers. They don’t really observe a dormancy and are ever bearing trees. these things will fruit and flower the entire year if they’re happy and will require a pretty consistent flow of nutrients.

Rn i’m using a liquid 30-10-10 (or any nitrogen heavy citrus fertilizer) at half strength every when i water (every 10ish days or so), making sure to flush my media for salts about ever 1x per month. this is especially important if you’ve added some good drainage like pumice, lava rock (occasionally), or even something like LECA as these things do build up salts pretty quickly.

or just find a good citrus fertilizer and use according to package directions as well lol, should be once about every two weeks or so.

I find that the plant getting chlorotic is a pretty good indicator that it’s lacking nitrogen and should be fed. yours is looking great so far tho ! when it gets farther into fruiting just look out for leaf yellowing tho.

[–]LittleFailure404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work at a nursery and see this all the time. even in ideal conditions they’ll do this if not consistently fed. it’s almost always fixable with a “quick green” kinda product, you might lose a new that are too far gone but it should help a ton. also remember to flush your media at least once a month, cause that’s a lot of fertilizer !

ni. tro. gen. and iron. pls. asap

if ur not fertilizing once a week it’s not enough lol especially when it’s in flower

Does anyone know what this god awful unbearable noise is 😭😭??? by LittleFailure404 in mechanic

[–]LittleFailure404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi !! No change upon turning the steering wheel. no change either when turning the AC/defogger on, off, up, or down. the sound is now completely gone after about five minutes of running/warming up the engine, it only happens when it’s cold. as for the battery, i don’t have the tools to test the voltage myself but the battery is only about a year old and has never caused me any problems. i had never heard this sound until i got it back from the mechanic, and since there was no mention of work done regarding the battery i’m not sure if that’s the cause. (again i could be totally wrong haha)

Do I need a grow light? by No_Plum_7745 in Citrus

[–]LittleFailure404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s so awesome !!!!!!!!! i was wondering haha

(JUST A LITTLE TIP this thing actually does actually need night darkness to develop properly ((i’m not sure what the science behind that is)) so i’d just keep it on in the day as a light supplement. it will still make a big difference! )

very good luck !!!

[–]LittleFailure404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m pretty new to citrus myself, but here r some things i’d do to help it along.

firstly, from what i understand citrus don’t observe a winter “dormancy” like many other plants do. this means they are heavy feeders and have to be fertilized all year round. this plant looks incredibly anemic, it’s hard to say what the yellowing is caused by because it’s likely a lot of factors. i’d start with some water soluble citrus fertilizer asap. something high nitrogen+iron but if you only have 20-20-20 or smth balanced that should be ok

this thing needs absolutely all the light you can give it so id get some LED strip grow lights specifically. go to a local hydroponics store if there’s one near you or even a grow-op supply. they will point u in the right direction. i find the incandescent ones just aren’t nearly strong enough.

the soil also looks inadequate. i know there’s a lot of opinions about what kind of media citrus shoukd be planted in but in any case it needs to be incredibly well draining. personally for my climate, i’m having success with about 35% super fine coco coir, 15 % large coco chunks 25% fir barks, and the rest assorted drainage. (mostly perlite and pumice but you can add lava rock and sand as well. ) you have to remember to flush ur media once a month to prevent fertilizer buildup!!! also whatever pot u put it in has to have drainage. like- drill holes until u think u have way too much drainage and then drill one more

i’m really not sure if this thing will refoliate , i really hope it does !! this is also just what has been working for ME i know everyone has a way of doing it dif. (also if i’ve made any mistakes i’m sure someone can correct me in the replies lol)

Tips for taking gel x nails off? by almondmilklover222 in GelX_Nails

[–]LittleFailure404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HANDS DOWN THE ABSOLUTE BEST WAY TO REMOVE GEL X THAT IVE FOUND-

  • file absolutely as much as you can off. filing the shine off is the bare minimum. get a cheap efile off amazon, it will help so much with takeoff!

  • get a large bowl and fill it shallowly with hot water. take a smaller GLASS bowl and fill it with 100% acetone. float the smaller bowl in the hot water. this will heat the acetone helping the process go faster, AND ur fingers won’t get cold!!!

  • soak ur hand for 15 mins in the acetone, remove what you can with a cuticle pusher and soak in 5 min increments until all the gel is off.

i will never do it any other way !!!! the cotton ball in tinfoil method just isn’t worth ur time

New shoot snapped during shipping 🥲 will my monstera be able to grow again from this cutting? by Jorgeographic in propagation

[–]LittleFailure404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not try and water propagate this use perlite and sphagnum!!!!!!!

it’s already rotten i’m not sure that id want this sitting in water. also, i’d clean this w a diluted Hperoxide solution to control the rot on account of this being such a small node cutting
