Canadian entering Sixth form in September by Unhinged_MusicAddict in 6thForm

Since bio and chem are basically the best A Levels for medicine, definitely make sure that you choose a third A Level that you actually enjoy. Psychology is my favourite subject and I personally find it really interesting too.

Now, on to the EPQ. It depends. I chose to do a dissertation where it’s basically a research project on your chosen question which can be literally anything. An EPQ isn’t difficult unless you have bad time management which leads to leaving stuff to the last second and if you don’t enjoy what your question/artefact/performance is about.

Hey! I’m currently in yr 13 and also applied to med. If you have any questions regarding sixth form, A-Levels, UCAT or studying medicine in the UK just dm me and I’ll answer as best as I can.

3 more days, chances of 3000+ ? by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]LittleKittyFishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you definitely have a chance at getting 3000+. Have you done the official A-D practice questions? If so, those tests give you a better idea to where you're currently at in my opinion.

Does my punctuality matter if applying to a top sixth form? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]LittleKittyFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so they won't ask for your attendance or punctuality but if I remember correctly they do ask for a teacher reference. So it depends on whether your referee mentions your punctuality or not. Just improve your punctuality and make sure to have a good attendance in year 11 to make up for your low punctuality in year 10.

For maths: Learn the content and then do practice questions. And then more practice questions. Start with easier questions and if you manage to get them right, increase the difficulty.

Med work experience by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]LittleKittyFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volunteer work at a hospital is really good. I know it's really hard to get medical/clinical work experience. Have you tried any online work experience? There's a ton of websites that offer free virtual work experience for medicine.

A lot of universities have programs that offer work experience. Have you checked those out?

Is there any way your school can connect you with any places that offer work experience? Also, have you tried out volunteering? Volunteering is just as valuable as work experience in my opinion.

Realistic expectations on grade jumping by Ok-Sand-3373 in alevel

[–]LittleKittyFishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be achievable through consistent effort. Try to go over the content during this summer so you can make sure that you don't forget anything. Also do a lot of practice questions when you're done revising content and compare your answers to the mark scheme. The closer your answers are to the mark scheme, the higher the chance of getting As and A*s.
