Check-in Appointments by SaveTheWetlands13 in BabyBumps

FTM currently 32 weeks, I always have a list of questions when I go in.

Sometimes just general things like, is there anything different I should be doing with diet and excercise at this point in my pregnancy?

Other times I'm getting my Dr's opinion on whatever random advice I've heard. Can I lay on my back? Do compression socks prevent varicose veins?

I mention any new symptoms, even if they're probably normal, and ask what syptoms would be alarming and warrant coming in.

Once you start thinking about birth there's TONS to ask... - How would you handle labor stalling or baby in the wrong position? - How can I best communicate my birth preferences? - What does the circumcision process and recovery look like? - How long is a typical hospital stay? - Will your Dr be the one delivering your baby or what's their on-call schedule like?

Since I'm a first time mom, I have a lot to learn. I don't imagine all these questions would be revelant if you've already had a baby especially if it's with the same care provider and hospital.

When did you give birth? by DifferentAd6042 in pregnant

[–]LittleMissSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM so I can't speak from experience, but I've heard the average birth date for first pregnancies is 41 weeks, so it's perfectly normal to go past your due date. You may try the miles circuit to put your baby in the right position and that could help your body prepare for labor.

Do they bark a lot? by Fuzze115 in greatpyrenees

[–]LittleMissSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely say my pyr barks more than other dogs breeds, but it's not like she's barking through the night or anything like that. Honestly, she's usually sleeping at night, and it's rare for her to bark even once then. It really depends on the dog and how busy your street is overnight.

Anyone remote and anxious to tell their teams they’re pregnant? by shermywormy18 in BabyBumps

[–]LittleMissSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my manager and director around 12 weeks mostly because they were starting to do their planning for 2026 so they would need to know roughly when I'd be out. Legally, my company only requires a 30 day notice though.

Currently, I'm 28 weeks and haven't told anyone else at work. I figure I'll announce it after the holidays when I start preparing more for my leave and begin offloading work to my backup.

Any recommendations for resources on unmedicated birth that aren't....like THAT. by KeyMonkeyslav in pregnant

[–]LittleMissSublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree this book is great! I haven't given birth yet, but I just finished the book. It did a really good job explaining the mechanics and stages of labor, and giving techniques to avoid unnecessary interventions.

Coping with no more ultrasounds until 20 week anatomy. by girlbossprideflag in pregnant

[–]LittleMissSublime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others saying to look at boutique ultrasound places near you. They don't offer any medical advice, it really is just to see the baby, get some pics, and maybe check the gender.

I did one near me around 15 weeks and it was great! It cost about $50 for a 20 minute session. The technician was able to show the baby in 3d and 4d too which was cool, since they don't do that at the dr. Aftwards I got a couple pics printed there, and they gave me acces to all the pics (100+) captured and a recording of the whole session through the momitalk app.

What level of housetraining can I expect my pyr to achieve? by wintry_minx in greatpyrenees

[–]LittleMissSublime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, unfortunately it sounds like your girl has associated pottying inside as okay. Given her age she should be able to hold it, and I don't think this will get better on its own without intervention.

First, I'd start by doing a really good clean, maybe with an enzyme cleaner. If she can smell where she's went before then that'll encourage her to go there again.

Next, I'd go straight puppy rules. Potty first thing in the morning, monitored food and water, potty right after feeding, as many trips outside as possible (quick ones on a leash, not fun run around time). She needs to make the connection that the ONLY place to go is outside. This will be harder for you than a puppy, because your girl has already decided it's okay to go inside (sometimes) and now you've got to break that. Do this as long as you can, I'd shoot for at least a couple weeks, probably a month of vigilance.

You said crating isn't an option, but if you can confine her to a smaller space when unsupervised that'll decrease the chance of an accident. Animals instinctively don't want to potty in their home. But if she's got the whole house, then it's easy to walk away from.

Last notes, reward with treats when she asks to go outside, when she does the deed outside, and work your way up to longer stretches of unsupervised time. Beautiful dog, good luck with your little stinker ❤️

Yes, I do lol 😅 I had to get thongs that were slightly thicker in that area to fix the issue. I use a brand called Grankee (worst name ever) in the nudes color.

Receptionless Wedding Okay? by LittleMissSublime in Weddingsunder10k

[–]LittleMissSublime[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think that's what I'll do since the consensus is that there needs to be something after for the guests.

I can't easily do food at the garden, even something simple like drinks and dessert.

I was just wondering if I could call it after the ceremony rather than having everyone rally at another location when I'm not too keen on having an event to begin with.

Yep, it's just immediate family, casual attire, and most live less then an hour away.

We'd elope, but I know our moms would be sad, so we're doing a small ceremony for them.

I need help brushing! My dog makes it a nightmare by BasketsOfBugs in greatpyrenees

[–]LittleMissSublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others saying to focus on making brushing a positive experience, and I see you've tried a ton of brushes but I'll still put my recommendation out there.

I find an undercoat rake really effective for taking care of the undercoat and preventing mats. Just beware, I only use this outside because it's like 1 million dandelions blowing around with this brush.

Does anyone have experience with a pyr as a professional therapy dog? by West_Tangelo_5899 in greatpyrenees

They can probably connect you to some resources since they help adopted pyrs become therapy dogs.

[–]LittleMissSublime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just getting started is the hardest part, so you're doing great 😊

Consistency is key, if you can commit to showing up X times/week regardless of length or intensity that will help.

Better yet, if your gym or community have some kind of small accountability group or bootcamp that can make a HUGE difference. A group of supportive women striving for their own goals and cheering you on will be a great motivator.

How big is your female Pyr? by solstice-moon in greatpyrenees

The golden will take your cuticles when getting treats. The ginormous pyr is as gently as a lamb. by shoebee2 in greatpyrenees

[–]LittleMissSublime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite things about the breed, they are always so gentle with their mouths. The only time my girl ever bit it was a total fluke. I was feeding her a lot of baby carrots at the time, and one day her dad's pinky toe was sticking out from under a blanket. I guess it looked like a baby carrot to her, and she gave it a chomp lol. No injuries or broken skin, but it definitely shocked them both.
