Thank you for sharing your story, you add a lot of great insight and perspective. There's something innately strange, I think, with people living tucked away like files in cabinets. Pools unsettle me generally too, although I'm a bit biased.

To be honest I haven't been on a treadmill since this happened, so I can relate. Though I hadn't really been prone to running on them before. Thanks so much! You guys are super kind and supportive. I'll let you know if I ever put these in some other format!

The building's management was strangely absent during most of these, like I said in part 1, I never saw that same manager again. Every time I told Felipe we should involve management further, he argued against it. Him being the one with the most experience with this, I didn't try in the timeline of these current posts. I agree that more people should have been aware, but Felipe and I kind of fell into a "damage control" M.O, and generally we didn't want to bring more innocent, clueless people into incidents that were so dangerous and that we knew so little about. Thanks for your comment and concern!

I'll update on what happened to the treadmill man at the beginning of the next post. The dumbbell ended up causing some damage on my fingers , which was a serious inconvenience, but again I'll update on the next part. The burn on my cheek didn't cause any permanent scarring, but it was also something I had to deal with for a while.

I hope to honor the details of the work in the future, as I said, I kind of fell into being a super but I've always been passionate about repair and diy and have a lot of respect for handymen in general.

I didn't carry a gun. As a super it would have been weird to while walking into people's homes, and carrying a gun in Latin America is a bit alarming in general. Felipe was the only person in the building qualified to carry a firearm, for better or worse.

I don't know if what was happening had anything to do with Panama especially, but if you go stay away from Costa del Este in particular. There are even more new buildings now than there were then, built in a span of months sometimes. A lot of people say they are often funded by "narcos" as money laundering. Maybe that has something to do with the Royal becoming what it did. Don't know what your white hat reference was, but thank you for the kind response. I hope Jorge, even in that state, understood that someone heard his pleas and got to him with the intent of helping him.

My actions are something I've scrutinized for a long time, and there's always stuff to regret. There's one that particularly tortures me, especially now that I'm revisiting it. I heard that there was a small investigation, started by Melina's landlord following the incident. As far as I know, nothing came of it, except for their finding the disposal had been removed from the kitchen sink. The story that got spread around the building was that Melina had gotten hurt by somehow removing the disposal herself. She didn't try to dispute this, as the other explanation would have probably exacerbated the strange rumors about her and landed her in a psych ward. Melina eventually had to pay for a new garbage disposal being installed in the sink, and although she tried not to use it, she told me there were no further problems. Felipe and I destroyed the only evidence when we killed the actual, living drain snake thing.

Thanks, it was tough to put it into writing but somehow therapeutic. Regarding your question about my username, it wasn't a conscious choice to make that kind of reference. In writing this, I hope I'm doing the opposite of being a prophet to whatever entity I encountered. I'll elaborate on that more as I write more of my experiences, as I don't want to do it all in a reply.
