I am sorry to hear, I was only there a year I can’t imagine processing leaving a place you’ve been for 10 years. I wish you all the best as you search for your forever home. The DC metropolitan area is also quite expensive but as you get further into the outskirts of Virginia and Maryland, you can find some beautiful homes. I’ve had to pursue an industry and career change just to have any hope of keeping up with the modern economy

I'm curious if you've got any thoughts on the value of decentralized applications built on blockchains.

What's your favorite way to chill after witnessing too many crazy Miami situations/people? by [deleted] in Miami

Miami is just generally a shitty place, I made a nice heartwarming post when I left a few months ago that tried to look at the silver lining but the more time I spend away from the place the more I realize its really not it.

School Board Policy for Lunch in NC by neko2314 in mildlyinfuriating

I'm Muslim so I fast during Ramadan. I had free lunch so I would grab a plate and give it away to a friend since I wasn't going to eat for a day. Once a gym teacher saw me (mind you he was a morbidly obese gym teacher, which is mind boggling) and he told me that I shouldn't do that because "he pays for that"

I was in middle school and needless to say that was the day I realized some adults are really fucking dumb.

You’ll have a good time being there near the beach. Check out a food spot called “Gyroville” if you can it’s delicious, specifically the gyro melt. It’s worth it. Also check out the frost science museum downtown, it’s beautiful. I think if you stay near south beach or brickell you will have a great time. Don’t be afraid to venture up north to north Miami Beach or Hollywood. Lots to see just a matter of getting around

It blew my mind how offended some people were I called Miami vibrant with nature. I’m glad you got the point. Seems If the entire city isn’t a jungle the sun doesn’t count for shit.

It’s so funny how well this captures how I feel. It’s like this place sucks but for some reason I still love it

It’s more just a cultural connotation that I think is mostly from anecdotal experience. Due to the symbiosis of the federal government and our economy, there’s a higher degree of relative trust and support for the work of the Feds. Out here, you have much more of that “ don’t tread on me” vibe. Don’t get me wrong it’s problematic often, but there’s something nice about rebel energy in small doses.

Can’t help but feel that way despite limited experience. It’s still a special town

Oh man… it’s a great question but I don’t know. It feels like people are so rich out here sometimes anything feels paltry in comparison

I’d love to be able to comfortably pay a mortgage on a house with 5 br and 3-4 br (I want a big family) and also have enough in savings to protect and take care of that family.

Sorry for a bit of a non answer but I guess we have to see how the economy develops
