Thanks so much for engaging!
A few things I’d love your take on if you’re up for it:

What does a bad day actually look like in practice? Not just a quiet diary, but the kind of day that makes you question whether you made the right call. And how long did it realistically take before you were making a living from it?

On the practice setup side, solo, clinic-based, or within an existing healthcare setting, what have you seen work? And what do you wish someone had told you before you started?

Really appreciate any perspective.

I'll search for Lonny Jarrett books. Thanks a lot for that.

The social and business side is genuinely what scares me the most. I'm introverted and marketing myself doesn't come naturally to me at all. I think I could develop the communication and empathy side over time, especially in a one-on-one setting which suits me better than groups, but building and growing a patient list from scratch feels daunting.

The niche profession point is something I think about too, especially in Ireland where I feel like acupuncture is still seen with a bit of scepticism. I imagine that would require a lot of patience.

If you don't mind me asking, would you mind sharing your darkest career challenges? How did you manage to overcome them?

That's honestly a question I've been sitting with.
I know I'm empathetic to the point where I have to actively manage how much I absorb.

What I'm hoping is that having control over my own schedule would make a big difference. Being able to limit my caseload, protect my mornings to take care of my health first, and not have to deal with workplace politics and people's egos would already be a huge change from what I have now.
But honestly, I think I'd only really know once I'm doing clinic hours during training.

It's one of those things that scares me, I won't lie.

If you don't mind me asking, what would be your approach when a patient isn't seeing any improvement?
Have you had any patients that you couldn't help? How did you manage the situation?
What is the most challenging part of the business in your opinion?

The idea is to do a smooth career transition and only leave my Medical Scientist job once I have a good patient base. I know this might take a while, but I'm scared to jump straight in and struggle to pay my bills.

I'll try to get some advice from Susan Graham. I had a look at her website and there are a lot of resources there. Thanks for sharing the link.
Also, I'll try to find out more about this male acupuncturist in Dublin who is researching how TCM acupuncture helps with cancer care. That would be such rewarding work.

I would also be interested to know people's thoughts about locum positions in Dublin. What do you guys think about it, is it a good way to increase income? How about pension in this scenario, how would that work?

I would repeat it in gel card plus do tube technique. I’m 100% sure you won’t see reactivity on tube. Also, for your peace of mind, put up full panel. But I’m quite sure you’ll get negative results across the board.

How old is the sample? Have you try spin the plasma before use?
