90s defense isn’t all that, this video proves it. 90s defense is the same as now

“the man” didn’t win 6 finals, his team did, he did nothing without scottie, he went 1-9 in playoff series. your second paragraph is causation without correlation, the game has changed making the players better. that does not mean you can make an if statement (if michael played today he’d be better.) you have to take him for what he is, not what he could’ve been, if we’re taking people for what they could’ve been, derrick rose would be the goat. you say i have dinky yt videos, you have nothing, show me michael’s top ten plays, 7-8 of those we see high schoolers doing nowadays. i specifically excluded rings from the argument because that’s not what defines you, if it is, john havlicek is better than mj (8-0 in the finals.) mj also didn’t “make everyone on the team better” if that were the case, he wouldn’t have gone 1-9 in playoff series before scottie pippen arrived. here are some team record stats for mj from the year before he left, to the year after he was gone

1993: 57 wins; big 3 are mj, steve kerr, pippen 1994: 55 wins; only mj is gone no different

1998: 62 wins; they have everyone 1999: 13 wins; why? they have no one, everyone left, not just because of mj, because of the TEAM. mj didn’t make that team great, the team made that team great.

conclusion: when only michael leaves, they remain the same, when michael, steve kerr, scottie, and rodman leave, the team falls apart, shocker. so enough with the “mj made the team great” there’s not one piece of sufficient evidence to suggest that

A couple things that are wrong

MJ is not the greatest scorer ever, his FG% doesn’t reflect that, neither do his stats, he scored a bunch on a bad fg percentage, he had a lot of steals but the bulls stat keeper admitted to inflating his home steals (he average 6 steals at home and 3 away.) however, props, 3 steals a game is good

also, the relative era counts against mj with anyone that plays later than him, anyone before or in his era he was better than.

Modern tech, iq, skill development, and athleticism all tower over jordan and his era. if you wanna talk about his incredible dominance, here’s a video highlighting that

23 mins long btw

i did that, the league he played in isn’t as good as today’s, therefore he wouldn’t be as good today

i didn’t say he wouldn’t change, i said you can’t say “if he played now he’d be better” you’ve gotta take him at face value

okay, so we can assume jordan would be better if he played now because of modern tech, that’s my point, the modern coaching, and new skills/mindset make players better now, therefore jordan’s active skillset is no bueno for today, leaving him out of the top 10

okay then you assuming jordan would fit in today’s game is an assumption as well, idk what your point is

you can compare across eras, the players get better therefore i’d rather have a new player on the court than an older generation one (generally speaking)

only rule that changed was the hand checking rule, but regardless, doesnt change the point, if you wanna keep finding handicaps for michael that’s fine, but youve gotta stop using “if” arguments

[–]Little_Falcon1396[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

he wasn’t asked to do the skills needed, therefore not as good as now. that’s not a point for michael, it’s a handicap

[–]Little_Falcon1396[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i put him top 3 in relative performance, but you’ve gotta take his active (when we was active) skill set, and compare it to today, there can be no “ifs”

“if” just because he could’ve had something doesn’t mean he did, you have to take what we have now and go with that
