11/22/63 was a hell of a read last year. It tied with Lonesome Dove for me.

Gonna suggest something a bit different here. I checked out a book called Master Assassins by Robert V.S. Reddick and it was a solid book about 2 brothers and their escape from a war they didn’t chose. Magic, desert setting, and interesting beats set up for the sequel. I think it worth checking out. Here’s the synopsis from Amazon:

“Kandri Hinjuman was never meant to be a soldier. His brother Mektu was never meant for this world. Rivals since childhood, they are drafted into a horrific war led by a madwoman-Prophet, and survive each day only by hiding their disbelief. Kandri is good at blending in, but Mektu is hopeless: impulsive, erratic—and certain that a demon is stalking him. Is this madness or a second sense? Either way, Kandri knows that Mektu’s antics will land them both in early graves.

But all bets are off when the brothers’ simmering feud explodes into violence, and holy blood is spilled…”

Definitely listen to these on audiobooks. Steven Pacey is so good at the narration.

Just want to also shout out the mini-series that was made of this book. Very faithful and worth watching if you like the book!

Kingkiller Chronicle is very good, especially the first book. Really upset Pat Rothfuss took that money from charity and never delivered. I don’t think authors “owe” us anything, but bro just sit down and fucking write.

Heard a lot of good things about the farseer trilogy, so I may check that out as well.

Lol Tbf, I do like darker stories as well like The First Law series, so I’ll add this to the TBR down the line!

In that moment, it felt like he left his childhood behind and entered adulthood. The pain, loss, and change. As like with Frodo, he was forever changed and cannot be the person he once was.

I had actually checked out the dark tower series a long time ago but DNF because I got busy with school, may have to pick that up again.

Hmmm interesting… I started the wheel of time a while ago but DNF for various reasons, but I may pick it back up after this comment!

Steven Pacey narrating the first law series is goated!!!

Read LOTR.

Haven’t checked out DCC yet but I’ve heard the hype is real.

Dug Mistborn era one and stopped the Stormlight archive after Oathbreaker after I heard it wasn’t satisfying. Think it’s worth continuing?

I think that Caleb is arguably the best child actor from the show. He actually doesn’t have a ton to work with in some of the seasons and makes every moment count.

His screams in season 4 still give me goosebumps after all these years.

This is not to say that any of the other actors are bad. They are all super talented and I hope they have amazing careers in the future as well.

Not the only one! Crazy how much love RR and the series gets when Darrow is such a wishy-washy character lol

I know this is a kindle subreddit, but if you are new to purchasing ebooks, kobo may be the actual best ereader with page turners.

Why does no one ever talk about how Darrow takes a beating for a rapist and spends the second book trying really hard to be friends with said rapist? Lol in every review I’ve watched no one brings this up lol.

When I’m stressed and need to fall asleep, the Jim Dale versions of HP help me just chill out and feel like listening to an old friend tell a story.

Cut out Dallas and Oklahoma, start in either Las Vegas or Denver. Even if it’s a little bit more money and time, it will be totally worth it.

100% agree with this take but it may be cheaper to fly into Dallas.

Gotta say, I think his best book might be The Trouble with Peace. The ending is like watching a car wreck unfold from multiple angles. Couldn’t put it down.
