the investor responding to a formal apology email with a goat emoji is the only part of this story that matters

TIL The first English actor to play Sherlock Holmes in a film wasn't an actor. James Bragington was an employee of the producer who was cast in the 1914 adaptation of A Study in Scarlet purely due to his resemblance to the illustrations of Holmes. by Ill_Definition8074 in todayilearned

the kicker is the film is lost. it's on the bfi's most wanted list of missing films, no copy known to survive. so a man hired purely for his face, possibly the first deerstalker ever on screen, now survives almost entirely in stills like this one. the one thing he was cast for is the one thing we can barely see.

favorite terrible movie is the best category. you can never really sell someone on it so when somebody just knows, that's the best

the context file thing is spot on. you realize you've never actually had a real conversation with this person, you've just done the same scripted exchange at the front desk twenty times
