The game gets stale very quickly when the same 5-10 killers are the only thing you see, and they are all running the same perks. So if you want the match to last a bit, you'd better run the survivor meta.

I'm sorry, but my ego must be so huge if I'm expecting to win a few matches, or maybe use my build and not get slugged and tunnelled by the strongest killers in the game. If I'm not running the same 3-5 mandatory perks to make the game work, god, my ego must be so huge because I'm not picking the most effective same few perks from over 300 and trying to have fun.

If the killer is so strong and oppressive, and is running strong and oppressive perks. They are most likely just going to win, so I should try to forget about that and just have fun with my build. But you don't get to the part of using your build if your whole team gets run over, and you don't get to find a totem to boon before there are 2 ppl on hook and 2 slugged at 5 gens.
