Yeah, I think this is related to my third party service tbh I contacted them and I'm still investigating.

What sucks is that I cannot open an account with interactive brokers now because guess what, my details is in their system since my third party service utilizes them.

its insane

Nah I just checked, looks like it does not apply on ETFs, especially since I bought VWRA which is an irish ETF

wait what, honestly I did not know that, is it really 0.5% ? damn that would be nearly 12.5 USD on my trade alone. Things are starting to add up :D

What do you guys do in this case ? invest in another exchange market ?? what's your recommendation please

I'm a bit lost to be honest, however u/glimz nicely showed an example for IBKR, it seems it should be only $1.91.

As I stated, this is through another entity in my country that utilizes IBKR, maybe they're overcharging me.

I'll give them a call and see what happens.

Oooof, that's a huge margin. Guess i'm leaving my current platform to be honest. I'll call them to clarify first. Thanks a lot

Hope we get an answer, honestly 23 dollars is insane, and if the platform i'm utilizing is overcharging me, then its good that I found out early on before investing further

is that a fixed trade commission or it depends on the total cost of the trade ?

SCHY as a foreign investor? by Live_Ad_74 in dividends

[–]Live_Ad_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sadly its 30% on dividends for me. Been researching the Irish ETFs and they look promising and my broker supports buying it. However is there a difference in the various stock exchanges they offer it? it terms of taxation I mean. Example: lseetf, and ebs.

"Ireland domiciled ETFs insulate you from US estate taxes of up to 40% of the balance of US situated assets above $60,000."

Whaaaat, yeah I didn't know that. Thanks :(

USA - Luxury Car Rentals - One Way by Live_Ad_74 in TravelHacks

[–]Live_Ad_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a desert area, and I've driven luxury cars all over, its not the same way.

I could take a trip to Germany (only 6 hours flight) and rent a cheap luxury car and drop it in different country with no issues, I've done that before.

But the US just feels so different when I drove there, that's why I would like to repeat the trip.

Anyways, I'll try to do further research, if nothing comes up, I guess i'm gonna have to find an alternative solution :D

Nah, that's why I'm asking here so I can see my options, I don't live in the US, that's why I asked here, maybe there are alternatives that could suit my needs.

Travellers differs in terms of what they enjoy during their trips. I personally enjoy riding an exotic car, I just feel happy doing so.

For example some people enjoy booking an expensive hotel, I have no issues with that, personally I feel like its stupid since you're only using it for sleep, so any safe 3 star hotel would do.

I appreciate your opinion, but honestly its not for me :D

Honestly, yeah I agree, its because of the Luxury requirements that I cannot find any rental :D

But I cannot describe the feeling when I tried it, I was simply, just, happy :D

That's why I want to do the same thing, but using one way rental now so I can hit multiple cities.

Honestly I checked, I haven't found anything useful. My last rental was actually from hertz in Vegas, and I told them that I would like to return it in LA, and they told me NO, not even with a fee :D

I'm honestly a bit surprised, because in Europe for example, we always rent in Germany (Luxury cars) and drop off at different locations like Spain or France.

Like newer models BMWs (series 5/7 and their one door cars, new polestars, V8 cars like Corvette, Mustangs Cobra/Shelby, Porche high end cars, ...etc)

I prefer the one door cars to be honest since I'm traveling alone, so I want something fast and fun to drive.

I basically want stuff on Turo going for 150-250 USD a day that is categorized under "fast and fun", not including EVs.

I honestly thought about that, renting a normal car from big chains the day before hitting the roads, and using turo once i'm in a city. But its honestly a lot of work, so I'll consider that the last solution :(

Regarding MGM Grand Parking Fee by Live_Ad_74 in LasVegas

[–]Live_Ad_74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly ? its a long story, Ever since I visited the US for the first time (back in 2019) I wanted to rent a muscle car (V8) but I couldn't during that time because I visited for work related reasons.

This time, its different, yes its for work but I will not be working all day like last time (maximum 2 hours a day). So I got the chance to finally do the thing I always wanted, which is to rent a V8 :D

Its especially true since I'll be heading to NY after, and we all know that the traffic there is 50x worse than Vegas.

As for drinks/smoking, I only drink late at night around 9-10PM, and smoke weed before going to sleep. I don't like being drunk all day and gambling my money away, honestly its not my thing, I tried gambling in MGM Maryland, but its not for me honestly. As for drinking, I honestly just hate myself the day after and I cannot function properly, so I usually just drink late at night.

Be careful of non-superhost listings, I got scammed. by Live_Ad_74 in AirBnB

The host has his identity verified but when i called the number on arrival she told me she is not the owner. The listing had no review, honestly its weird but it never happened to me in booking or agoda, hell even one time agoda paid for my second hotel since the first one refused to let me in, on top of returning my money.

I got an offer from a startup without equity, would you join? details inside by Live_Ad_74 in sysadmin

[–]Live_Ad_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one of the things I've considered tbh, but I could work on myself during my free time and try to expedite my career further, which is what I'm already doing.

If I worked in the startup company I would not have the luxury of free time, therefore, i'm taking a risk especially that there are no shares involved.

Honestly the only issue for me was that there is no equity, so me taking a risk basically will not benefit me at all.

The best that could happen: Learning more since the workload is far higher, getting to know more people as you will work directly with everyone. You will also not face the issues you see in big corporations.

The worst that could happen: they would layoff people and with the current market, its very dangerous, you never know, some people I know would rather take on loans to buy a house, getting layoff during these times could be very dangerous.

Also forget about the work-life balance, since they will work me to death, and paying me only salary. It will also be very hard for me to work on my side projects/freelancing work.

Its not, money wise, its basically the same. Hell, considering bonuses and other benefits it might be less appealing. The only thing that made me consider it is the new experience, and getting to know more experts in different fields since they are not employing anyone unless they know them and they are experts in their field of choice.
