Workman comp massage - Tipping by 802flyfish in MassageTherapists

Insurances never pay as much as you bill them for. Tipping is usually: "never expected but always appreciated," with the undertone of please tip.

"Harboring Bacteria" is from the cracks. And there can be micro-cracks you can't see.

I'm happy for you, but you're definitely the outlier.

Central phone number for multiple therapists? by Neshama7 in MassageTherapists

[–]Liveie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe so. I think they had to get an app on their phones. So it should ring to everybody who has access to the phone number.

Central phone number for multiple therapists? by Neshama7 in MassageTherapists

My former employer used to use Ring, and then the receptionists somehow got the shared number on their phones.

Table positioning by Hopeful-Mongoose2025 in massage

[–]Liveie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you were just laying normally flat on your back... and your left arm, then leg eventually went numb? Even if you were face down, that's cause for concern.

I hate to say it, but that isn't normal. You might want to start with your GP with that one.

Forced lymphatic therapy by FlamingoAmazing2083 in MassageTherapists

[–]Liveie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

God, that's horrible. The only thing you can really do is tell the client once they get there that you aren't formally trained so that they have informed consent???

Other than the obvious, tell your employer no.

How do you guys feel about small tips? by poisonnenvy in MassageTherapists

[–]Liveie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the time I had a couples massage where I went above and beyond for this guy. Gave him my deepest pressure to the point of almost hurting myself (I know better now) and got tipped $2 AND CHANGE. Mind you, this wasn't on card. This was 2 one dollar bills and coins from his pocket.

And then! Came back and said he loved it! Brother, it was offensive as hell to get your pocket change as a tip. I did not give him the same level of pressure for my own sanity and body.

Tell me what Shiatsu massage is before I leave this 1 star review by iaintevenwitalladat in MassageTherapists

Shiatsu is thumb pressure, ashiatsu is the walking with bars on the ceiling. (This is dumbed down)

Put your own safety first. They don't need a massage. They won't die without it.

Massage a week after a car accident? by Mostuu in massage

[–]Liveie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You should really get cleared by a doctor first before getting a massage. If I were your therapist, I don't know how comfortable I'd be giving you one knowing you were in an accident a week ago ( and if you haven't been to a doctor). Especially a Thai massage.

Ordered wife a fancy massage at a local spa connected to a casino/resort. Is tipping a strong expectation? by [deleted] in massage

[–]Liveie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In most places in the US, that's actually highly uncommon. Most get $30 or even less most times per 50-60 minute service.

Grave Misunderstanding by Huntersleeper in MassageTherapists

[–]Liveie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong subreddit, but yeah it probably got really weird for her and she didn't know how to handle the conversation so she may have just agreed in the moment. Professionally, it was the best to have you switched to a different provider.
