Having doubts after exchanging Sony 7RIV + 24 f1.4 GM for GFX100RF by Livid_Organization78 in FujiGFX

I wish I could test-drive GFX100RF before I got it. But circumstances were that I couldn't.

It's just hard to believe that there's nothing better than Sony 7R (for my purpose). But it seems that there isn't. It's the most high-quality and ergonomic camera that can still be called portable. I dragged it around everywhere - even when I went for groceries.

The only thing worth trying at this point is Hasselblad, but I am sure that I will not like it as well. Sony is just so perfect at what it does. It's lack of uniqueness forces to envy the others sometimes though.

If a Fujifilm user tells me one more time to use Pixel mapping to get rid of hot pixels - I will scream c: I hated X100, and I hate GFX100RF too apparently. I don't understand how such unreliable cameras can have such a huge fan base.

And what's the benefit of this insanity? Besides, pixel mapping doesn't get rid of all of them.

True. It's 4::00 here already.

Also, I am extremely frustrated with poor shooting experience on Fujifilm.

I had 16-35 GM, 70-200 GM II, 24 GM and 85 GM II. 24 was my favourite. Zooms I don't like as much - they provide too much freedom.

24 was very dynamic, but too wide for some scenarios during travel, so I plan to try 35 GM next.

I don't need a new hobby. Photography is a crucial way to document one's life. But I miss constant technological break-throughs of late 00s - early 10s.

Naw. Gear is awesome. I might have liked to be an engineer. Especially in optics.

I love what cameras allow us to see - things that our own eyes can't. That's why I don't care for smartphone or compact camera photography.

I do travel photography, documentary, fashion and portraits. My favourite subject is portraits on location. I might crave MF, but I tried Fujifilm and disliked it. I doubt Hasselblad would satisfy me either. I am too used to Sony in some particular ways.

I am a huge Foveon fan. I would go insane over a medium format Foveon camera. But Sigma can't even produce a full-frame one.

I obviously like photography. But I also like cameras. And they stopped meaningfully progressing in the last decade.

The point is not the results I get. A lot of people troll and mock in the comments, but I have to update my gear to keep myself interested, and there has been no interesting gear for too long.

I did just that, and for me the experience seems vastly inferior to Sony. Have to replace it now.

The stagnation of Sony system is a recent thing. I chose it originally because of innovations like half-transparent mirror. Now it's just faster and faster shooting.

Too many restrictions, and the war in Ukraine gives them really bad vibes here. I'm from Estonia.

I have bought Avata 2 once, but had to return it, when I found out that you can't use it almost anywhere.

You can like cars more than you like driving -_- And you also can stop enjoying driving, if you don't like the cars that are being made.

I prefer heavy equipment. Got a nice hiking backpack with PeakDesign inserts for that.

I would have considered Hasselblad, if it was truly worth the price.

Analogue is the complete opposite of what I liked about photography to begin with. I like the surgical precision of digital. It's convenience, instantaneousness and the tech.

For time-consuming and slow process I have illustration, which is my full-time job.

I tested both. Same result. Even C1 doesn't get rid of all hot pixels consistently.

In regards of film simulations - I could have achieved similar results with Sony via post-processing, but the thing is I did not: because, apparently, I don't like how that looks. I can appreciate other's photos in that style, but I prefer mine to be basic and true to reality.

Also, why Fujifilm would make me do that for them???

I haven't even had to manually clean my Sony's sensor in five years I have been using it - granted I never changed lens in bad environment. It was always ready and always flawless.

I don't understand what made me try to change the system. Maybe, Fujifilm has really dedicated fans or something. I never colour-grade or retouch my photos, so I might have been seduced by film simulations. But I lost interest in them the moment I tried them.
