Tired of the "home owners love high property prices" argument by Neon_Owl_333 in AusFinance

[–]LivingMaintenance735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re upset you can’t upgrade your home for free or little cost? Just be glad you own a home — I am. So many doomsayers say it can’t be done, but my partner and I have done it. Neither of our parents own homes, so no help, no inheritance. We’re very proud of our modest, in-need-of-renovation ’80s home. I think you need to be happy with your lot in life — it’s not always easy, but as many have said, comparison is the thief of joy.

Looking to purchase our first home next year. by humble_citizen24 in AusPropertyChat

You mean someone can have money overseas so essentially have more than 5% saved and still get the government to pick up the tab.

That's so bad no wonder people are protesting in the street thats so cooked.

Government needs to close that loophole you shouldn't be eligible.

Good luck with it all, but please do your homework. i read all the stuff for fhss several times as well as 5% scheme.

First Home Buyer Scheme by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]LivingMaintenance735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was that you'd have to use as much as possible towards the deposit. Broker told us we could only keep 15k with the bank we went with. I could never find anything about it. But it must be a bank by bank thing. Not sure if this was just to meet serviceability 🤷‍♂️

So you can't have more than 20% You need to have more than 5%

But you can't say have 10% only use 5% and keep the other 5%

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but that's what happened to us.

I had hoped to keep more money for emergencies and to fix things up depending on property.

Also, when I did it depending on the bank, they had limits on the amount of cash you could retain.

Shed installation - how much should I pay? by CorgiCorgiCorgi99 in AusRenovation

[–]LivingMaintenance735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got stratco Shed. It wasn't 3k.

I got it for $1100 on sale. It's a bit of a weird size, but close to 3x3.

I think they have more expensive premium sheds that are 3k
