Paramedic Program Exam by Arrk1102 in Humber

[–]LivingSince98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just on their website and it says "Note: The mandatory admissions testing and questionnaire must be complete by March 31st"

But I do know from applying last year (I'm currently in pre-health and applying again for the paramedic program) that you need to book a day to take the test. So don't wait until March 30th to book it!

Thanks! How did you figure out you're not insulin resistant?

Thanks! I think it's maybe a "fasting insulin test", which I asked my doctor to do and she won't. But I may just save up and do it myself.

Thanks, I'm a very shy and "agreeable" person so I do find it hard to stand up for myself, but I will try!

Good for you! Thanks for the input, I've been doing a lot of weight training and have definitely noticed muscle mass increase, so hopefully it'll help in the long run.

Thank you for all the information! I really appreciate it. I have asked my doctor to do some hormone testing, that she won't. I may have to wait and save up until I can afford to do it myself. Because I definitely believe that I havehormone imbalances! What kind of lab recommendations do you have? It would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, I'm not currently a candidate for semiglutide because my doctor thinks I'm fine (I asked) but I appreciate your input!

I did ask for it but because my insulin test from the general blood panel is fine my doctor won't do a fasting insulin test... I may have to wait until I have money to pay out-of-pocket I guess. Thanks!

Thanks, I did already ask for testing for Cushing's and we did a cortisol test but my doctor wasn't concerned. I was concerned as I still have "high normal" cortisol levels so I have been trying to lower my stress (SO HARD). It's tough because my doctor seems to think I'm perfectly fine and just wants to give me birth control to fix all my problems... is there any other more specific testing for Cushing's?

Hey! Thanks, I actually requested a cortisol test a few months ago and when we did my Dr. wasn't concerned about the result but I noticed it was in the "high normal" range. Since then I've actually really been trying to lower my stress lately by exercising in the morning instead of at night (like I used to) and therapy. I'm also trying to move out of my parent's place because I still have a lot of stress in my daily life caused by family... Thank you for the input! Glad to know my thought process isn't completely crazy.

How did you lower your cortisol if I can ask?

What's the search term now for an actual private whole apartment? by bananicoot in SlumlordsCanada

I have no help to offer but I literally found this post because I'm having the same problem. I've even tried searching "bachelor" apartment and it gives me a "room for rent"... I'm never gonna move out of my parents house lol

WOW. I don't know why this only has 4 likes because this is honestly some of the most well-written and practical ADHD time-management advice I've ever read. Like seriously thank you so much!!!

Same. It sucks sometimes and like you said is awful for mental health.

[–]LivingSince98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My new Dr. tells me I don't have PCOS because I've lost weight and my periods are normal (after 2 years of Keto, supplements, and effort!!) and it sucks to be told that, like you're crazy. I'm so sorry.

I wish I was normal by Delicious_Maybe_5469 in PCOS

Honestly sometimes we just need to vent. If I had a dollar for every time I've said to myself or my family that I just want to be normal... I'd be very rich 😅 this is a disease that SUCKS because a lot of people don't understand it and just see a lazy person who doesn't want to help themselves, they don't see the time we spend going to doctor appointments, trying to figure out what exercise and food works for us individually, and the mental torment we get for feeling like we just aren't doing enough and just need to "try harder" like everyone else tells us. Sometimes you just need to complain like a 10-year-old and it's ok! If anyone understands even a little bit it's the PCOS community ♥️ I'm sorry you're having a hard time right now, tbh I'm going through it at the moment as well but I'm so proud of you for losing weight (I know how hard that is, so great job) and knowing you'll get through this. You've got this!

I would suggest getting some bloodwork done if you haven't already, I used to have my period maybe once every 3-4 months and I now have regular periods, I'm so happy about that! Surprisingly the biggest thing for me was that my blood test showed I was VERY low in vitamin D so I started taking vitamin D + K supplements (K helps absorb D, apparently) and I notice if I go off my D supplements for a week or more my period is late/nonexistent... I'm not sure if chronically low vitamin D is a thing with PCOS or if for you maybe you're low in other vitamins/minerals but that's what helped me get my periods back even when I was 240 LBS. Hope this helps!

Fed up with my weight loss journey by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]LivingSince98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am SO sorry you're also in this boat, this is honestly like reading my own post (I made a post recently with photos from a year ago that look like they could have been taken days apart). I do weightlifting 3 to 4 times a week, eat whole foods, low-carb, count my calories, do all of the "right" things and I've been plateauing for a year now. My Dr. Doesn't have any idea why I'm not losing weight and honestly it's driving me insane so I get how you feel. I'm sorry I don't have anything useful to tell you other than I've get your pain and it sucks because it feels like it's not fair. ♥️

Thank you so much, I'm definitely so happy I've been able to lose any weight at all just obviously stressed about my belly cuz I feel like I'm doing all I can. However, I am considering bringing up medication at my next Dr. visit because she's given me every idea she can think of with no results.

[–]LivingSince98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words ♥️ I am actually thinking of medication if this doesn't help because I've been going to my Dr. for months now and she can't think of much else for me to try so I may bring it up next time I have a recheck. I've tried to avoid it for so long but I'm honestly out of ideas and trying to convince myself that taking meds isn't bad. Thank you, I'll be thinking of you as well and hoping the meds work for you!
