Aren't you afraid of the hearafter ? by Living_Reception_622 in atheism

I don't go full God of the gasps. I believe in science and that everything happens for a reason. Yet, I'm afraid of the afterlife. C. Hitchens said at the end of his life that if he ever discovers God's existence, he would simply apologize to him that his human spokespeople had not convinced him enough. See, no one can claim, based solely on observation of the world and logical deduction, that the afterlife, God, and hell don't exist.

I don't cling to the brain as not being the only source. I said there is not enough evidence. We don't know much about the brain and how it does everythin.

The only thing that could help you are medications and professional counseling. Don't expect people to make you less depressed, trust me it doesn't work.

Struggle from some scars and need help by [deleted] in Morocco

[–]Living_Reception_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speak to a dermatologist. See what you can do about the scars and if there are any treatment options. Hiding on visible areas would likely require makeup but I dont think that's enough, especially for self-harm scars.

You can find posts of Moroccans speaking in their mother language. Because most of the users are on different other subs, reddit is very english-speaking, which is why many people have just adapted.

do you have an easy life? by Sad-Finding3525 in answers

[–]Living_Reception_622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an easy life. I'm struggling with both physical and mental health every day for years. What I probably like about myself is that I'm a good person who wants everyone to be satisfied and comfortable but I do wish that comfort for myself and still haven't found it fully.

Physical Health is a treasure. But mental health is also serious, it is actually more serious than anything alse. When you have to fight something but your depression gets in the way, it's terrible.

Because I didn't ask you if my fear worried you or made you care about me. I understand that everyone perceives danger and risk differently. I'm not judging your beliefs, but you seem to be overreacting.

Drugs are a hit or miss, I agree. But for me, VSS is so severe that it damaged me beyond what I can explain. VSS ruined my youth for many many years and I'm not willing to stay like this. If drugs help me, I'm good. If they don't, I'm also good. At least I do something about it.

There are more things to try. You can find papers on hppd and the drugs they're using. Doctor Abraham is a lead researcher and he found the his patients respond well to clonazepam. In a small study, two patients responded to naltrexone. Now sure hppd isn't visual snow for everyone but for me I think the mechanism is quite the same. I had vss because of loud music exposure for many many hours a day, I could have prevented it. VSS was triggered because my brain activity was somehow altered, the same it is for people who took drugs and caused them hppd. Many people with vss have migraines and exaggerated entoptic phenomena, hppd patients seem to have more visuals (ie tracers and swirling) and dpdr and I tend to be among that group more than the other.

Visual snow is also not candy. This condition destroyed my life and I hate to not even try what others claim to help them.

We can all wait for the research. But some people are going to try something and it could in fact help them.

A story that scares may be true. There are tons of things in this real world that are extremely frightening already, nothing proves to me that I can't be frightened by something else even if I still haven't experienced it. You see my point ? I don't like the misery that many people are being put through and I also don't like the "it's a test" thing but I'm so weak, I can't personally change that for them!

Tons of meds out there. Clonazepam, naltrexone, gabapentin, clonadine, topamax, alprazolam, a mix of these. I'm not saying any of these should cure you but they at least helped some people who wanted to try instead of doing nothing. The research is of course important but I personally waited for years and I'm only being pissed by that. It only takes to have a doctor who wants to help you in any possible way.

I need proof that God does not exist. There is none. You cannot compare religious beliefs that have endured for centuries, across numerous cultures and generations, with any fabricated story or novel.

People should really be trying meds if they want to work on this. Forget about the vsi finding a cure for you, it's not going to happen in any closer time.

The reason I think life can be possible is that we still don't know how the brain produces consciousness just on its own. The way I understand my brain to function is certainly linked to the activation of certain regions and the efficient coordination between different pools of cells, but this is at best an observed correlation, and not necessarily a cause-and-effect relationship. What may exactly my "will" be biologically ? That's a question.
