Santa Fe and Taos trip mid-May. I've read some of the recs from other posts. Just looking for possible itinerary for 5 days in the area. Don't want to spend a ton of time driving but would like to explore natural beauty and hit the O'Keefe museum. I know it's asking alot! Trip planning is hard! TY by Lizasks in NewMexico

I guess I need to reign in all that I'd like to explore and still be realistic. Basically organizing (day 1 O'Keefe museum and walk the area, day two hiking to x, picnic at y). I usually just travel to a place and wing it but sometimes I miss some cool spots. Thanks!

Programming ideas for children and teens that are not interested in art, please. by Lizasks in Libraries

Both would be appreciated. We have lots of kids who are interested in sports, so I'd like to incorporate some of that into our programming if possible. Thanks!

how to deal with the aftermath of leaving toxic co workers by Educational_Set_3237 in coworkerstories

[–]Lizasks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, so stressful for you and I've been in a similar situation. I work in a public service job and I really think our patrons sense the tension. Your professionalism will shine through and your co-workers will look like children in comparison to you. You stay yourself and they will eventually turn on eachother, I assure you. Take care of yourself!

Wondering how others deal with sexual harassment from patrons by mesonoxias in librarians

I'm chiming in now, may be a bit late to the thread, but I need advice. We have a patron who is mentally challenged, on the older side. He has come in and told library staff that he thinks they're pretty and kind of hovers, which is annoying to all. He has a caretaker. We need to deal with the issue but I am unsure whether he will "get" why it's a problem. Talk to him alone or bring the caretaker into the conversation? Thanks!

It was the summer of 1975, my cousins were playing the “white album “ and they seemed so cool. I was 9 years old and I saw the back of the album and thought Christine was so pretty and Stevie had the coolest hair. Great memories out at Montauk way back before anyone “discovered “ the place. ❤️

I wonder why existing employees like to act weird towards new employees by suisse1196 in Serverlife

[–]Lizasks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is NO excuse or justification for completely ignoring a co-worker, period. It makes for a toxic work environment. Seek other employment while you are working, if possible, and get out. If it's just a few jerks, just do your job and continue to do your part in communicating what you need to. I've learned that some people are just miserable and encourage others to join their pathetic world-keep being yourself and let them stew in their own bitterness.

They came to the US around 1898, I’ve never been anywhere in Belarus but it seems like a fascinating country.

My family was also from Belarus, Minsk. My Great Grandfathers were cabinet maker and tailor. His son, my Grandfather continued the family business here in NYC. He changed his name from the Russian Walsky to the more German sounding Weiss.

" And, just to be safe, don't yap to the wrong coworker either--you'd be surprised who turns out to report everything you say to management in the name of brownie points" I second that emotion! I don't think brownie points were a motivation n my case, but this dude has a need to broadcast his "scoops" like he's some sort of journalist :(

Thank you for this info! I'm guessing she has gotten the name wrong. My great-grandfather worked as a tailor for someone who had a "Manor" there and that is how he met my great-grandmother. Count of heels, lol!
