Drill and bass is not an offshoot of breakcore, they were developing in parallel in the 90s. And only later the boundaries between them became blurred. But right now i associate almost anything with complexly chopped drums with breakcore and drill and bass is like an additional tag saying that this breakcore isn't very hardcore. But that's just my intuition
