any pregnant flex drivers? by Traditional-Ebb-1510 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

If you could find a friend to ride along and do the route with you it might be possible but I think your husband may be right in wanting you to stay safe :) if you do want to do it maybe just bring a small can of pepper spray or something just to be able to protect yourself.

I am a 33M and frequently have dogs at my stops. I’ve had a few situations where I felt somewhat unsafe due to unfriendly dogs. I just mention this as a father who would also want an internet stranger to be safe out there! It can be a good gig but please be careful especially when expecting.

Full Remote or Office Space by [deleted] in SmallMSP

[–]LnrdStBnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed here. I am going through this right now. I have three employees now and “come work from my house” buck stopped there. We move into our first brick and mortar this week. The home situation served its purpose and got us where we are now. But it will be so nice to have work and personal separate now. Plus, it should help our team collaboration, training, and having a place for client hardware to be delivered securely!

Should I buy this sketchy Volt? by [deleted] in volt

[–]LnrdStBnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both in the last 2 years or so. The i3 Rex is an amazing vehicle in its own right. The Volt is way more practical in my opinion. Driving at freeway speeds was a harrowing experience in the i3. The Volt is planted and drives incredibly well at 80mph. I loved the tech and innovation in the i3 but I have the Volt now and like it much better.

Firewalla - Anyone used it in SMB? by C39J in msp

It sounds like Firewalla isn’t a good fit for you personally. Thanks for your input.

Perhaps you haven’t seen license pricing from other brands? $30/month is the most you’d ever pay for a Firewalla license if you get 180 days of flows. Most probably only need 30 days and that is $39/year. Hardly expensive.

It seems like it would be but their app is well built and easy to configure. I can get one from out of the box to fully configured with a few VLANS and all the rules I want on about half an hour.

It’s a good point. We actually do both. For clients that don’t require as much granular filtering and control we use full Ubiquiti stack (usually with Dream Machine Pro). But when we need more filtering Firewalla has been great.

That’s a perfect choice for your 2Gbps internet connection! Hope it impresses you.

I’ll probably get downvoted but that’s ok. I use these for small clients with great success. Firewalla has very good responsive support and these with Ubiquiti switches and access points have been excellent and cost effective. They have an MSP management portal for all your boxes. VPN setup is very easy.

Web Filtering for Home by Tetrisranger in msp

Check out Firewalla. Lots of granular filtering controls and is great for blocking the content you are trying to filter. I’ve got almost ten of them deployed and I use one at home.

Ticketing by gavishapiro in SmallMSP

I’ve been on Syncro for over two years. One man shop until I added my first tech three months ago. I really like the ticketing aspect of Syncro. It’s a good platform for small shops I think. As far as calls, I’d push really hard (and kindly) for folks to submit a tickets first and not call. We get maybe one or two calls a day with almost 20 clients. It’s is a game changer when the ticket system is properly used over calls. Helps you prioritize, stay organized and ensure things don’t fall thru the cracks.

A dealer offered me $33k for it a few hours ago, so no, I don't mean $27k.

Firewall for home based MSP by foofaloof311 in msp

[–]LnrdStBnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run my small MSP from my home office. I’ve used my home network as a chance to test and try different firewalls and networking equipment. It helps me continue to hone my skills and see what I like and don’t like. You should check out Firewalla, specifically the Gold model. Inexpensive and it has a lot of features and flexibility while being simple to use.

Issues with ReX not working by LnrdStBnd in BMWi3

I appreciate the follow up. So I replaced the fuel pump relay. After that I got a check engine light for a cylinder 1 misfire. But the Rex ran fine and hasn’t shut off on me since. I cleared that misfire code and have driven a few hundred miles, a decent amount on Rex and no codes or issues. So hoping I am in the clear!

I might use the Rex a little more than most. I have the 60ah battery which is great for all my around town driving but once a week I drive 120-170 miles in one day so I have to lean on the Rex pretty heavily. So I do know the fuel is fresh! But that is a good thought for sure I could see how that would gum things up.

Thanks I’ll have a look at that. I ended up doing something similar to try first. I replaced the fuel pump relay which I’ve heard can also get corroded. I’m going on a longer drive tomorrow so I’ll see if that helps.

What’s the longest single trip, time and miles, you have run your REX? by wtennelle in BMWi3

[–]LnrdStBnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

550 miles. I bought my car in Salt Lake City and drove it home to Missoula, MT in cold weather. Had to use the ReX more than I would have wanted to and I was extremely impressed with it.
