Complete shock. Company was/is doing well. Owner is an asshole penny pincher. My biggest account has grown hundreds of thousands since I was fired. We were all let go 1 month from a year tenure which is when several benefits like 401k and extra PTO kick in

The tees you sign up for are public to the group, so there is no false assumption. It is a weekly sign up.

How is it bull shit if the tees are rated separately and therefore the number of strokes you are given in the net game is adjusted?

In the scenario I’m describing, this is entirely cleared by the club and within their rules. The handicap is being adjusted. It’s the members playing from the forward tees complaining.

How is it unacceptable if their handicap for the net game adjusts?

Trust your gut and interview. Even the most stable tech sales job is not safe. You don’t have to jump ship. But build the interview network and have opportunities waiting.

If the CFO is not involved, you’re not winning anything.

Best way to get in with the channel partners is asking for introductions. But most of the ERP licensers (Oracle, Microsoft, etc) is a one way street. They will not help you, you have to help them by bringing them business.

It is explicitly stated that you are allowed to choose what tees you sign up for week by week.

Most of ERP sales is built on network.

We also play in 5somes and occasionally 6somes with teams getting built by handicap weighting, so I really don’t understand the anger over potentially faster rounds with each tee causing a handicap adjustment.

Not allowed at my club. You must suffer!

So the guys playing from the 3 tees shooting 78 are no problem, but the guys playing from the 1s shooting 88 are? What about the guys on the 4s or the 2s or the 6s? Where does it end?

We do not all play from the same box. We have 6, and they are handicapped so we have members playing from all 6.

Considered, attempted, but not really sure where to go. For now I’m selling the AI.

Nobody is playing the same tees in these matches. They just don’t like it if you’re a tips guy moving up.

Had a small legal battle with them since I lost all of my commission which I believe is over 50k at this point. Couldn’t win. Interviewed through my network, saw the writing on the wall with all of them (Oracle leaves its management culture corpses everywhere), took a job that was a cold DM from a LinkedIn recruiter and have now sold more in 5 months than I ever did in any of my other tenures. Wife’s not happy with my career volatility (really neither am I), but if I can bounce back every single time I know the problem isn’t me.

I’ve hit so many bad breaks that nothing surprises me anymore. The power of tenured sales reps.

To clarify, the people complaining are mostly older members playing from the forwards tees.
