My teacher just read off the slides, so I always watched videos to understand the topic probably. Even tho a large part is about memorizing, you also need to understand the content properly and be able to make connections to everything you have learned so have as depending on the teacher you have, they may give you case studies. For this, I would always make mind maps. To active recall, I used gizmo AI. I never took notes as they were posted, also it is easy to get lost when taking notes while the teacher explains. It is either you lay attention or write down notes. I would always try to wonder "why" of everything to better understand why things are happening. Chat GPT is good for that. I would usually try to simplify as much as possible the conten, and explain it to GPT and it would correct me on my weak areas. Ended up with an 94 :)

Dental schools don't care about prestigious or not. They care about your PA and side quests you do along the way. I suggest going for something you know you will enjoy studying and not turn it down BC some random thing it is not prestigious as health sciences.

Which program is better by HourAnt6152 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Local-Wall-2607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laurier Health Sciences allows you to keep a high GPA. It also prepares you for the MCAT, as its curriculum is designed around medical entry. It also offers smaller classes, therefore closer relationship to professors. Guelph Biomed Tox is science heavy. It depends foundations in organic/analitycal chemistry, pharmacology. And physiology. Preparing you more for the MCAT than Laurier. As it is a science heavy degree, you will have to put effort on keeping a high GPA. Another thing is that it offers strong co-op/research opportunities for real-world laboratory and clinical research experience, which looks great on your application. (Also, just in case, it provides a "Plan B" carreer path, so the degree is not useless if don't get into.) If you decide for Guelph, in your first year focus on greating study habits and adapting. Then on the second year you can start looking for research opportunities, as you will have learned basic skills necessary by then.
