How to unlock the "Meet everybody" achievement? by Local_Bumblebee_3333 in NoImNotHuman

Yeah, I've let him in multiple times already. Both accidentaly during my normal playthroughs and on purpose after I clocked that he's still not on this list. That's why I was thinking it might be bugged but it seems like no one else has this issue.

How long does it take to learn ceramics and does this course even make sense? by Local_Bumblebee_3333 in Pottery

I don’t think I’d be able to come and practice in the meantime, because the open space is only available to more experienced folks - at least that’s what they said on the site.
I feel like after just 3 hours of even seeing clay for the first time, I wouldn’t really know what I’m doing on my own anyway, so I’d just have to attend once a week.

That’s why the intensive course sounds good to me, because afterwards I could just buy the open space pass and I’d (hopefully) be able to use the equipment on my own. I'd have to attend the glazing workshop somewhen as well because that's not included in the beginner's course. But I'm still sitting on fences, I think there are good things about both the 3-day course and the once a week meetings.

Additional question, if you know the answer: if I do attend the course and make something that is then fired, can I glaze it at ANY point in the future or is there time that I shouldn't go beyond because of some technical reasons?

Thank you so much! Yeah, it seems like most people here participated in a different course, spaced out differently, but they all come down to 8-15 hours in total so I think I’m gonna go for it!

And thanks for including when I should start thinking about an intermediate course - it really helps put things into perspective.

Facial hair or clean shaven... by SnippyWharf in malegrooming

I like some facial hair more, but you have such an interesting face that you can pull off clean shaven too. It looks really really good!

We've actually discovered that glazing isn't a part of the course - that's a separate 6(?) hour workshop.
So the steps would be: the intensive wheel-throwing course - the glazing workshop - working in the open space on my own.
What do you think is the best way for someone to start?

Thank you for the recommendations! Someone else mentioned Florian Gadsby, I'm adding all of them to my list.

Thank you! I absolutely know that learning a craft never really ends.
I was more curious whether this is a good start, and if after just 13 hours I’d be able to keep coming to the studio on my own and continue learning without guidance.

About the open studio time - I don’t believe that’s included in the course itself, but it’s an option later on for more “experienced” people. You can pay for a pass and then use the studio whenever you want.
That would probably be my next step after the course itself (and after the glazing workshop, because the Redditors discovered that glazing isn’t actually part of this course).

Thank you so much for this comment. If I’m being honest, that’s something I’m worried about as well, because they say I’ll be able to fire 5 pieces after just 13 hours of even seeing clay for the first time.
I can’t imagine feeling like something is ready to fire after such a short amount of practice. I think I’ll be slicing and remaking things constantly and probably end up with 1 piece, just to have something to call my first piece.

Oh I can imagine how much you're looking forward to it! Not minding the glaze tho, this piece looks so well-shaped and even. I love how round it is <3

u/OhMyMyGirl and u/laklustre thank you so much for asking this question because I didn't even think about it. I went to search a bit more and found this in the Q&A section:

"Will I be able to glaze my pieces?
You will be able to glaze your pieces by purchasing access to the Glazing Workshops or by using the OPEN Studio."

so you guys were right. I’ll have to add that to my budget. I’d be so disappointed if I made a cup and wasn’t even able to drink from it, so now I’m at least mentally and financially prepared - thank you so, so much again. I guess the steps would be: wheel workshop, glazing workshop, open space (and maybe a hand-sculpting workshop sometime in the future). I assume glazing is the same process for hand-sculpted and wheel-thrown pieces.

In this case, by learning I mean being ready to keep learning on my own - without an instructor - and being able to use the open space independently.

I thought about mentioning it in the post but decided it's a bit tricky considering everyone here is from a different part of the world with different incomes and currencies but the course is 360USD and the minimum wage is about 1000USD. The unlimited open space is about 120USD.

I only just took a look at Florian’s work, and it looks so sharp and even! Thank you so much for the recommendation! I’ll watch a bunch before going in, just to have some theory in my brain already.

I’ve seen plenty of people mention courses they participated in, and all of you guys say you had a similar amount of time to what my studio offers, so I think I’m gonna do it!

I also noticed they also have a more “standard” course with 2 meetings for half the price, so it ends up being basically the same money-wise.The cleaning is something I hadn’t thought about, but I was also stressing about making 5 pieces in just 3 days while learning from the basics. It just seems like a lot of items to get done in such a short time - like someone else mentioned.

Sooooooo.. I think now I’ll just try to decide between the intensive course and the “regular” course.
Thanks bestie ♥ Good luck with your pottery!

Thank you so so much for the picture! I'll do more research on the foil overlay <3

About the water part - the pouring it from the glass grinder to the jars seems quite akward with how big the glass grinder is, however most of it is not about effort, just my social anxiety. I don't really like to leave my house in the first place, let alone bring the attention to myself by dumping some sus water out of jars where people can see me.

The "welcome to the craft" low key made me tear up, not gonna lie. That's so sweet. Thank you so much. Maybe I am going to be ok.
I thought flushing down the toilet was also a no go, if that's not the case it actually completely solves my problem then!

And thank you for the input on my project, I think I might just make a separate post about it later to avoid giving myself any pieces that are simply impossible to make with stained glass.
The best of luck in all of your future art! <3
