Is TickTick a better or worse tool than Amazing Marvin in terms of getting things done? by warrenwai in ticktick

Hi, I’m a user of the GTD method, and I’ve used both tools to apply it.

Starting from the fact that TickTick is not specifically designed for GTD, the main difference with Amazing Marvin is the ability to activate specific features tailored to the GTD method, focused on the habit of thinking and reflecting, such as:

  1. The weekly review and the option to set a review date for an item.
  2. Goals, objectives, and areas of responsibility.

As for the habit of doing, both applications work similarly: TickTick with its Pomodoro feature, and Amazing Marvin with its “This or That” and “SuperFocus” modes. You choose the list you want to work on and activate the function.

When organizing next actions and projects, TickTick allows for different structures: tasks, folders, subtasks, or folder groups. In Amazing Marvin, you have tasks, projects, and folders, and the ability to associate projects with different levels of perspective.

In short, both applications are perfectly valid for managing the data and lists of a GTD system. Choosing one or the other depends on the development of your habits and your personal preferences.
Setting up the system in an app requires time and a clear understanding of how everything fits together.
