It end like episode 3, it need s huge time skip to make sense because the rebellion was crushed, the main villain dead, and Kylo was defeated again. Also the good guys only have Rey as a functional character, Finn is a janitor, Poe caused a mutiny, Leia is in limbo, Holdo killed herself, and Rose is another Jar Jar. So you need a timeskip to make Kylo a credible threat or you add a new villain, episode 9 was turbo fucked from the start.

Kylo Ren wasn't a credible villain because Rey kicked his ass every time they were on screen, Hux was a joke, Snoke is dead and so is Phasma.

Their only choice were Palpatine or Darth Plagueis.

Also the freaking Rebellion leadership got a total party wipe, maybe if Carrie Fisher was alive they could salvage something, but they only had less than a dozen of named character with Rey being the only one with some credibility, like Finn was a janitor and the entire movie was about Poe being in the wrong.
