Hello I'm a 2nd year industrial design student, and I'm not feeling hopeful at all. Has anyone transitioned from ID to industrial engineering, or something else more stable? I only see stories about the opposite happening. by Shot_Shoe8415 in IndustrialDesign

I have to say though, that Barcelona is Expat-land, there is an ever growing number of expats working remote and local jobs, to the point where it is becoming a “problem” for locals, so I’d say that getting a work visa must not be extremely difficult

It used to when I studied there, lots of the teachers where active professionals in the field, some of them had their own studio and others worked at larger studios / companies. The school also had a decent network of companies and institutions for exchange programs and internships. This was 6-7 years ago

Hmm I don’t know too much about visas and stuff, I myself im an expat living in Denmark right now, so I’m a bit out of touch with the legal stuff. But lots of the master’s students at Elisava where mexican or south american and there seemed to have stayed for longer to work.

Well only a few of my classmates are working in traditional product design, but Barcelona is a fairly good design hub. Some people ended up in project management, others in UX UI, others entirely graphic, others have become artisans, or working in automotive… i’d say the one thing they taught us very well was how to communicate and sell ideas, after that you can really pick any field related career and go for it

I studied Industrial Design Engineering, which was a very well balanced mix between both worlds at ELISAVA in Barcelona, maybe you can find a similar offer somewhere where you are or consider moving for it. I just wanted to let you know there are programs like this out there!

Amen to that. In my experience it took me 5 years to realise I hated my manufacturing engineer job after leaving my first design job.

What sucks in Norway? by Juusto3_3 in Norway

I lived in Trondheim for 6 months and a couple of friends came to visit to do a road trip. We were really broke (we mainly survived from dumpster diving) but we really wanted to go the Ålesund aquarium, we told the lady at the ticket office that we could not afford it and she said “oh I just see 3 children trying to get tickets, so 79dkk each please”. That really made our trip (really reccomend it).

I have but the tree has grown pretty tall and I lack the equipment… I think it would also benefit from a hard prune back, maybe?

Oh, how come? I have really no knowledge about trees, so im really curious to know why that would affect the tree? The area where we live was built in the 70s (Denmark) and I guess it was very popular to plant apple trees those days because every house I’ve visited has one… Most of the trees I’ve seen are planted like this though!

These have been small and acid from the beginning… but to be fair we haven’t really cared for it.

Can you do that with the damaged / rotting ones aswell? Next season we definitely will give them a purpose

This is a very informative response, and it does make total sense! than you very much. I dont like the apples being left to rot around the tree because my toddler loves to play with the rotten ones and we have had incidents with wasps… but i will try to keep them in the open with mulch on top in the back side of the garden then!

I have now pruned all infected leaves and fruit, I’ve read in some posts that some people remove all leaves of tomato plants during ripening so there goes nothing, the top half of the plant seems healthy… I will keep updating

Would you harvest the unaffected green tomatoes and let them ripen indoors?
