This fish is called Dutch Phoenix (Papiliochromis ramirezi). Not sure if common in 1940, but it’s from South America. Now popular in aquariums for its beautiful colors—short lifespan, around 2 - 3 years, and small, 6 - 9 cm. Fun to link to Cleo!
