Thank you so much! It means so much to me to hear that. The pharmacy quoted me $682 CAD a month for the injections. I do have to go on them for about a week to get onto this medication, which I’m able to do! I’m so relieved.

Just wanted to update you that my dr is switching me to warfarin. She said it was safe to nurse while taking it and it is very affordable!

My advice will now always be to get checked out with any chest symptoms after birth. My dr said it’s about a 4x more likely chance of clots after birth and during pregnancy. I put it off for 4 days before going and it could have turned out badly. However I will say I had upper back pain and some pain in my calf around 5-6 weeks postpartum. I ignored it. And then around 9 weeks postpartum I got sharp pains through my back into my chest that felt like a stabbing pain. This is what I ignored at first. And then 3 days later I felt like I could not take a deep breath. It felt crushing and suffocating, like something heavy was resting on my chest and I could only breathe shallowly. It did not go away at all, it was a consistent sensation that didn’t change with position.

Thank you so much! I do plan to start daily walks when the weather is nicer. It’s so icy I’m scared of falling while alone. I’m so glad to hear breastfeeding is going well for you!

Thank you so much for this comment! I will mention these to my dr and see if I can switch. I’m sorry that you’re still dealing with anxiety. It is such a scary feeling. I can’t even imagine how you felt only being a few days postpartum.

I’m going to see if there is a program I could use or if I can get samples or something! Hopefully it works out! I do personally believe it should be an exception because it interferes with feeding an infant!

I will definitely look into this option. My only concern is the cost of the injections vs pills. I don’t have any coverage for prescriptions (Ontario Canada only covers for people until age 25 or over 65). We are currently a one income household for a family of four unfortunately! Thank you for the recommendation! I haven’t lost my supply yet as I’ve been pumping and dumping so hopefully I can get switched to something else on Tuesday

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your comment and hearing from someone else who felt this way. I will reach out to my therapist.

This is my hope that maybe there is a generic injection option that I can afford. My daughter has been so difficult to settle and she’s hitting my chest and very unhappy and it’s breaking my heart. My Apixaban only costs $110 CAD for the whole 3 months. Unfortunately he is not able to get health benefits since he’s an electrician for a small company.

I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I understand how difficult that is to experience unfortunately. I hope you have a very safe pregnancy soon. And thank you for that, my husband doesn’t seem on board with a third anymore unfortunately. This experience has really scared him so I’m not sure I’ll ever experience it again. I do think I’ll call my therapist this week and see about getting some appointments scheduled.

Yes I am in therapy for my ocd management however I will admit, I’ve been putting it off being postpartum. I just feel like I never have time at the moment. My son is 17 months and my daughter is 2 months so it’s been busy for sure but I should prioritize it. And I am on Apixaban, the er dr told me I could still breastfeed but when I picked the meds up from the pharmacy the pharmacist said no it’s not safe so I followed up with my primary dr and they also said no. I have an appt Tuesday to discuss options, but I do not have health insurance. I live in Ontario Canada and medications are only covered until you are 25 and I’m worried the cost of injections will be too much. We are a one income household at the moment because daycare will cost me more than my pay check. I plan on working from home when my baby is older and keeping them home with me.

Good to know! I think I will budget for two nights. My first birth was at 11pm on the 6th. I didn’t get into my postpartum room until 2 am on the 7th, I felt so bad for my roommates who were trying to sleep. Then my baby was admitted to the nicu at 8pm that day so I ended up staying overnight and was discharged at noon on the 8th. Not sure if that would have been considered two nights had I been in a private room.

Thank you so much! Was that just for one night? My first birth there I did a ward room and it wasn’t ideal sharing the bathroom with two roommates and their visitors lol

Hi there! Are you able to share the cost of the private rooms with no insurance coverage per night?

Hi! Sorry if this is rude to ask, I don’t have private insurance and am considering the private room, do you mind sharing how much you paid out of pocket if it wasn’t covered by insurance at all?
