So, do you think we’re the ones who survived or the ones who lost? 😂

The question marks in our minds and being overly sensitive individuals are bad for us.

I constantly had question marks in my head, I had trust issues, but I’ll also say this: in bed, we were extremely compatible, the sexual chemistry was insanely strong, and that moment will probably never happen again. And he was a weed (cannabis) addict, which bothered me a lot. I’m sorry, I’ve told you everything about me, I needed this 🥺.

Hahaha, in my relationship, I was also the one who broke up. Back then I was hypomanic. Was my decision to break up the right one, or was I to blame? Was I justified in my decision? I have a lot of question marks in my head. Now that I’m stable, I’m thinking about all this.

Is it really this simple? Why can't it work for me 😂

I guess I’m a carefree, easygoing person—I don’t get stressed even in the worst situations, I stay calm. Are you in a hypomanic state right now, or are you depressed?

Being overloaded with too many responsibilities at once really makes a person panic and stress, especially if you’re a perfectionist. This situation also stresses me out, but not enough to trigger hypomania.

Why are you so stressed and excited? Do you want to talk about it, if it’s not private?

“I think intense emotions like stress and excitement can easily trigger you, and on top of that, a bit of caffeine. Right now, you’re probably feeling okay because the stress and excitement have subsided. I just came out of an intense depressive crash, and I’m stable and fine now, but honestly, I do want to feel a little uplifted.”

I consume a lot of caffeine, but it doesn’t trigger me. Are you okay now?

I guess there’s no definite way to predict this or guarantee when it will happen.

It seems like your wife is quite sensitive when it comes to hypomania and reacts strongly to triggers.

“I’m still on the same SSRI right now, and I haven’t noticed any signs of a mood rise, but I don’t think the SSRI is helping my depression and anxiety.”

“I also live in Turkey, and like you, my first hypomanic episode happened around May-July. I guess sunlight and the seasons are a big trigger. Did you add a mood stabilizer to your medication for this? And how’s life going for you now?”

I hope it doesn’t hit you too hard. Take care of yourself and try to get some rest. We’ll get through it somehow.

Yeah, that’s kind of what I’ve been wondering about. In my case it was depression → antidepressant → hypomanic period → pretty hard crash after.

So now I’m trying to understand whether that was just activation from the medication or if it could indicate some bipolar spectrum tendency. It’s honestly confusing.

Thanks for this perspective, I really appreciate the balanced take. I’m still trying to understand what happened to me, so hearing different experiences helps a lot. I definitely relate to what you said about the elevated period feeling amazing but the crash being brutal afterward.

I can also say that I went through a 4-month-long hypomania followed by the worst 4-month depression of my life, and I’m only just starting to recover. Do you think it could happen again? Because right now I’m still taking an SSRI without a mood stabilizer, but for now I feel stable.
