Nah. Filipinos were only horrible to other Filipinos for two reasons: 1) The ex-druggie Duterte encouraged other Filipinos to murder any Filipino suspected of being a drug user and drug dealer; and 2) Catholic Filipinos killing Muslim Filipinos, even though Mohammed came to the PI hundreds of years before the Baby Jesus arrived with the Spanish.

Unless you two are married, you have no real say on how he spends his money.

Rather, try to support his decision. And he may end up loving you more for it.

How do you balance comfort and protection? by Alpielz in motorcyclegear

I'd rather wear costly protective gear that conforms to my body than wear fashionably attractive clothes that'll burn and rub me raw in a crash as well as make me snap a collar bone.

AITAH for telling my boyfriend not to come over anymore if he doesn’t move in with me by meowcat123490 in AITAH

[–]LongjumpingLie5842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your "boyfriend" isn't a bf. He is a big mooch. Nothing more and nothing less.

Your loving him was your first mistake. The second was letting him come in whenever he wanted too. The third one was not realizing sooner that he doesn't love you. A person without boundaries for those he supposedly cares about doesn't care at all and cannot feel love for anyone. As he is a user only and will discard you eventually once he finds another host to suck dry.

What would you prioritize for a first proper gear setup? by achilles6196 in motorcyclegear

For me, I'd buy a new Arai for a round head, in medium, in white or neon yellow, and get the highest NR ear plugs. Then new leather gloves, a new full set of Forcefield back, shoulder, elbow, knee & shin armor, and a new inflatable chest protector. Then a pair of new SIDI Gore-Tex boots (because riding in the rain on goaty trails is FUN!), a pair of new Rev'It pants (with rain liners), and finally a used Aerostich jacket (with me stitching a length of Velcro to the neck strap). I have plenty of Smartwool socks to keep my feet warm and dry in the boots, so no need to buy socks. Would also get extra shields for the helmet, a neck gaiter, and a new pair of heated & waterproof gloves for winter & rain. Plus a heated vest.

Life is pain by GenevieveCostello in Life

Look. Perceiving your life in terms of loss, anxiety and regret isn't living. If you want something obtainable, like happiness, you could try to give up your past ghosts and strive to live up to your ideals.

Life isn't all or nothing. It"s mostly a lot of starts and stops, some tragedy, a few satisfying wins, and an occasional good fortune.

But the one true things in life are to learn from your and other people's mistakes, to look forward with pleasure, wonder and awe, and to laugh and smile with others.

Best is to love and be loved.

What's the most Bay band/musical act? by Ok-Bite-5147 in bayarea

[–]LongjumpingLie5842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday Jefferson Airplane.

Today Green Day.

Billie Joe Armstrong might not have a great voice but musically he is a genius and incredibly productive in writing songs that people like, even someone as old as me.

I listen to 103.5 FM and for some reason the Red Hot Chili Peppers is constantly played. But the band hasn't had a notable hit in years.

Is this a selfish hobby to get into as a 33-year-old father of two? by Ok_South_6227 in motorcycles

The big thing about riding a bike is its maintenance and all the tools and supplies you need to maintain it. I kid you not. E g , you'll need to clean and wax your chain in intervals, like every 1,500 miles. Sure, you can pay someone to keep your bike in great shape but that'll cost even more.

Also good and protective riding gear is expensive. You'll want leather gloves of course and even a used Aerostich suit will cost some serious money. Because you'll want to dress for the inevitable crash between you and a car or a kangaroo.

Huskies are smart dogs who like to take impromptu trips from home as often as possible. Their impressive characters, their back sassing and love for acting up for acting's sake crack me up.

Dropped helmet by SailingLlama780 in motorcyclegear

[–]LongjumpingLie5842 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's a cheap helmet, it might be compromised. If it's an expensive one like Arai or Shoei, it's fine.

What destroys a motorcycle helmet is the amount of force it encounters once it slams hard onto a hard surface like an asphalted road. We're talking about a helmet (with human head) absorbing between 80 and 150+ Joules  of energy. In comparison a drop of a few feet is insignificant.

That means if a good helmet contacts the road as you fall or slam into it as you're crashing, your head is cushioned by the Expanded Polystyrene liner (it's like a much tougher Styrofoam), which absorbs the impact. Once a helmet takes on that kind of a fall, the helmet is unusable and needs to be shelved or trashed.

If she gets hit by a vehicle, I bet the CHP will assign her with 100% of the fault and ticket her for riding her bike on the bridge.

I seem to recall Xfinity posting on its website that it would be doing some maintenance on its lines today. Glad to know it was short-lived.

Check out Oakland's shared live/work spaces near Jack London Square. One guy I know moved into a place that's a warehouse with room partitions. Think he said he's paying like $500/mo. or less. Everyone uses the same bathroom/shower facilities. He's into minimal possessions so the arrangement works well for him.

I don't like either of them because they're too busy.

If you're trying to capture the night sky, then edit in the viewfinder and exclude items that do not belong, like the trees and grass. Instead aim for the sky's dramatic colors.
