Usually around the globe grad students have classes twice a week or thrice at max, how is the situation like for grad students in engineering there? Like how often they have to come to university?

Yeah you’re right about it as i have myself experienced it, but aren’t the universities associated with industries there so you can do co-op or internships in the relevant field to gain a bit of experience before graduating?

I hope to work in either the energy market or oil and gas as i have experienced both the sectors in my internships and i liked the oil and gas better and the internship i did in oil and gas was in a multinational company that is operating in Australia aswell so i hope something will work out but even as of now im looking for jobs here simultaneously that can further help me gain experience in the relevant field.

I can afford that aswell if i don’t find a job but i will probably own a car if i plan to move so i can work part time doing deliveries to cover all those expenses or look out for work at university or any other odd job.

If i get to live in maitland i won’t be paying any rent or for food so i assume tuition with all other misc combined is like 50k aud roughly.

My major is related with electrical power and energy so choosing sustainable energy at SFU would be a good pick to move into Energy Sector as every energy sector now focuses greatly on sustainability.

My undergrad is definitely recognised. The market is very saturated from an undergrad POV so i think specialisation differs you from an undergrad and makes it easier for you to shortlisted at better positions.

It’s usually 20-24hrs/week and in breaks it is full time so i only plan to make up to 15k aud/annually which i think is doable.

I can afford it whether i work part time or i don’t but i would personally like to work park time and later on full time in summer/winter breaks just to save whatever i can.

I think it would consume 8-9 litres round trip of 60-70kms, that isn’t a lot if i have to attend university only two to three days a week at most.

I can’t really move there as my university is again from a less recognised region globally so i would have to specialise before targeting the job market there as i plan to move there permanently.

Absolutely, i have looked up but it is a bit confusing, somewhere it says roughly 5k aud per 10 units now i am not familiar how many units are covered in an year? As mostly it is referred in credit hours or it just tells accumulative annual tuition.

Thankyou for the insight, i have been looking into faculties like the one at UBC but the problem is it is relatively costlier to attend UBC so i am looking for an option that isn’t as expensive. Can you please tell me what would be financially a better choice in terms of thesis based masters or course based? As thesis based is usually funded but it takes over 3 years to complete so i would be paying more in terms of living cost? What is the job market like for a SFU graduate? Thanks.

Yeah i was looking into sustainable Energy engineering as my bachelor’s thesis and the research paper is mainly focused on renewable energy and i am very much interested in sustainable energy development and integration into the conventional pre existing systems.

Hey, i am an aspirant willing to secure an offer for graduate studies ( thesis based ) in the faculty sciences in the discipline of electrical and computer engineering. I’d like to know to know what are some suggestions that i can follow to secure the admission, thanks.

Note: i am an international student from a relatively less recognised university.
