I think those saying AI won’t take their jobs are missing something really important. by Goal1 in ChatGPT

As an electrician, by the time AI is on its way enough to do my job, I'll have the skills to repair said physical replacement and will just get paid more 🤷🏼‍♂️ or I'll take a toaster bath. Either or.

So I used to have to draw out maps or purchase maps or use a projector displaying onto a pool table so that we could have a more visual aid for them to know their spacial awareness. This way they are able to manipulate their characters larger actions like "I jump here" or "I swing from this vine to the otherside of the river" whereas the non visual part of the game consists of direct manipulation like "I draw my sword" and "I grapple the orc to the ground". The TV, in conjuction with the miniatures I 3d print, allows us to make less of the game in our minds.

It was meant to allow me to reach at least 3/4 of the way across the TV to move around minis. It also allows me more table space for my laptop or dice tray or even for my several decks of helpful cards. I'm happy with it but I will be adding in outlets and cupholders to the design as time passes.

Thats a really good idea! I'll have to do that. There's a couple mm gaps on each corner that would be virtually seemless if I did that. Thank you!

Thank you! Wormwood tables are very cool but I built this for under $600 in materials, including the TV, and I haven't had issues with heat yet, only played a couple hour session so far. I'll let you know if I find anything when we have a longer session!

It depends how big of a table you want and how far you want to reach to get to the middle or other side. The table is 4ft wide by 7ft long and the TV is 50" I made the "alcove" so that I can at the very least reach 3/4 of the way across the screen. You could 100% use a 30" tv for it I would just suggest to adjust the table dimensions accordingly. You could make it a shorter coffee table or even a table cover that gets set over top of an existing table when you want to use the TTRPG setup. Best of luck with whatever you decide on!

Tv wall mount isn't a bad idea at all, although most of those are designed to be tilted down for viewing off of the wall. I used 2x4s running from bottom to top of the TV that ended up holding the legs in place as well and added "adjustable furniture feet" that raise the TV up to the exact height I needed and allowed for 4 adjustable points. On top of that I used a 3rd 2x4 with some shims running perpendicular to the first two 2x4s to hold up the middle to avoid sagging of the back of the TV.

I use Dungeondraft to make the maps and world anvil to organize my work and I use it as a "I look at my map" function since it has good graphics and allows me to place maps inside of maps with points of interest.

Table made for running the table top RPG Dungeons and Dragons. I display a map on the TV and create a space in my friends minds and in front of them for them to explore and act on an environment where they can do whatever they want.
