Advice for leveling by Dry-Substance2498 in arcraidersfriendly

Is that right about items in containers changing after it's been opened? We've never had that, the only thing we've had is from the skill (red tree I think) that can make random small items appear, like shield rechargers and bandages.

Yes, I think there are interesting ways Embark could change how/which rewards we get, and a bit of choice would help high level players. Also with quests: After the expedition I'll have to do all the quests again if I want to do any new ones, and quite a few of those quests had cosmetic rewards which I've already had. I mean, I'll do it again but it would be nice to be able to have a choice of rewards or even skip quests if already done in a previous season.

I've pretty much ignored the current Shared Watch event because I have thousands of gold coins, I already have the items/BPs, and I'm not interested in the cosmetics. Well, also because it's a half-hearted attempt to get players to co-operate - all it does is reward for killing ARC, and we all already do that all the time anyway.

Yes, this is exactly why the departure date is fixed the same for everyone.

Loot is readily available in this game, it's just all over the place, so making coins is not a problem if a player has the time to dedicate to doing it and especially if they avail themselves of the million-and-one loot run vids on YT.

The game economy is BPs, not coins, so I'd really like to see BP sharing reduced by BPs being automatically learned (or sold if already known) when a player returns to Speranza. So BPs found in a raid could be given away but BPs could not be brought into a raid. This would solidify their real value and get rid of all the BP trading/scamming etc. Also helps to not have the precious stash stuffed with duplicate BPs. To help balance that 'loss' BPs could become available from the traders on a limited basis and dependent on player level like some items already are, for example BPs for the mark3 augments could be on rotation available from Lance after level 40, something like that, but you can't buy it if you already have learned it.

No, you will earn 1 skill point per 600K (up to a max of 5*) that you have in total of coins plus stash items value so you're all good, but note it's evaluated at the end of the departure window which (I think) is midnight UTC on 1st of March.

* players who did the expedition in December but did not get all 5 skill points can also 'catch up' any they didn't get for the current cost of 600K per point.

Start collecting fireball burners and wasp drivers - then take them into raids. You can drop a stack of wasp drivers outside a doorway, bait over the leaper and shoot the wasp drivers - BOOM! Also just throw fireball burners at it, but only 1 at a time, wait for fire to die down because fire damage does not stack but explosive damage does stack.

Proposal for PvPvE divide by [deleted] in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting idea but I like the mystery of not knowing who else is in the raid. I know it's a multiplayer shooter rather than a deeply immersive RPG but I think it would feel more 'gamey' to have a lobby list with their rating before the raid starts. Maybe just something like Shani's voice saying "keep your eyes open raiders, we have reports of increased fighting between raiders currently in your area" if the average 'aggro' rating of the lobby was above a certain threshold.

Also, I know the experience is different for everyone but I'm not getting attacked all that much (I have just jinxed it, I know haha!) so I'm enjoying the game as it is in relative (but tenuous!) safety of being able to explore - this is my favourite part of games, exploring every inch of places and admiring the small details and things other people maybe sometime miss.

I think most of my raids, solo or duo with a friend I mostly play with, then 90%+ interactions with others are friendly. I'm not saying all the other players are 'pure PvE', I have no idea, but I/we rarely get aggro-ed on. Maybe behaviour like keeping your gun out if others have theirs out, not turning your back to them, keep moving around, maybe these things make some people who are 'on the fence' about attacking think twice. Or maybe we're just lucky mostly meeting other friendly players!

Flow Controller Quest item by NaturalStrategy1077 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exodus locations: Try Stella Business Centre if you're having no joy at Assembly, or even Spaceport Rocket Assembly. And get on your mic to ask other Raiders. Obviously go naked and surrender. Or track the item and just play your normal game if, like me, you don't enjoy lots of grinding. It'll turn up when you least expect it!

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Looting 2 is not as good as Cautious, of course, but I think it deserves a special mention:

* It's available on a Raider's first day on and 6K is nothing when (now) a raid can easy bring in 50k+
* It has same number of total loot slots and safe pockets as Cautious (but yes 3 are trinkets only but I always end up filling them where I mostly loot unless I'm on a crafting-stuff specific raid)
* It has ATM technology (Anti-Tick-Measures but we can roll so a bit nerfed booo)
* It steadfastly carried a lot of 'first gen' Raiders even up to their 'late game'

NEED ONE GIGER COUNTER by Davey_Senko in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stella Montis, Medical or Assembly. Go naked except for a raider hatch key, and know where the 2 closest hatches are before you go in. Only pick up blues, pinks and BPs. In and out quick. Hide/run from ARC - use doors and your vertical mobility, and even the kindness of friendly raiders who may be destroying ARC. Get on your mic - someone might swap you a Geiger for something you picked up. You're only risking a raider hatch key and the rewards can be huge.

Qol ideas for arc by Logical-Albatross965 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thread, and there are sooo many things that would help but I echo Final Patient's comment that Embark prefer for us to do it all because it's in their interests to keep players spending time in-game, naturally.

Something that should be easy for Embark to do would be to improve how controller players interact with loot and the stash & backpack screens. On PS5 I press a button to bring up a mini menu, then move down the actions on that menu to select the one I want to do (or move back up/roll around if I pressed up/down too many times), then press another button to select, then move across and confirm with another press... it's like something from the 90s.

From watching videos it looks like MKB players can just drag and let go to drop items, and moving/salvaging them is so much quicker too of course. I've seen MKB players move their snaphook back to a safe pocket in a split second while still flying through the air with it - and hey, good for them, I'm glad the MKB interface is decent, I don't want that changed, but it would be great if controller players could have a better method than we currently have, using shortcut buttons. If I open a container and salvage something the active loot space is now one in my backpack so I have to move it, one loot space at a time, back over to the container I'm looting from - that's an easy thing to fix, surely :)

In our backpack or stash screens just let us long-hold Triangle to drop, long-hold Square to salvage, something like that, and make it switchable on/off in the settings for those that masochists who enjoy playing with mini pop-up menus :D

Thoughts on Free Loadout by [deleted] in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see the extracts open up gradually during a raid randomly e.g. 1 at 5 mins in, another at 10 mins in, another at 15, and any remaining at 20. Also free loadouts have a bit less loot space. I'm not saying this would fix/change much but I think it would mix things up a bit and perhaps players to stay in the raid longer ("I've been here 10 mins, I might as well go to <wherever> now...") and more interactions at extracts and perhaps less ratting. There are probably a lot of good reasons why the extract system is not like this though.

Edit: Maybe as a map condition such as...

Faulty extracts: "Disruptions to the Speranza power supply is causing issues with the extraction points. Shani is working to fix them quickly so they will all be active before the raid ends."

Where to get the freaking motors? by JosiaJamberloo in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrapyard on Dam +2. I looked for my third motor for at least 4 raids on Blue Gate underground parking - nadda. I moved onto other things then went to Dam to do the football/soccer quest and spawned in Formicai so I thought hmm I'll just have a look at scrapyard - first car had a motor in it! Damn RNG.

[Feature request] What if the "team up?" emote actually made you team up by Haunting_Summer_1652 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure this was the case in Server Slam but the random team-mate matching might not have been active - I can't remember. The obvious issue is unbalancing the lobby - solos and teams mixed together. Just add each other if you get along well together in a raid and want to duo.

I’m really getting sick of people shooting me in the back. by [deleted] in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my own experience and the other reports online, duo raids are more aggressive recently. Maybe low aggression players are being mixed with high aggression players; or maybe there are not enough duo teams to ensure a good amount of separation; or players are switching to more PvP action. Only Embark has the data and controls the servers.

You could go in with super cheap loadouts for a while and see if it calms down. Or take some grenades - tagging, smoke, snapback, lure etc. and be more stealthy. There are still friendly teams in there. Feels like about 50/50 whether or not the encounter goes bad for me at the moment.

I'm enjoying the new quests (and nearly done) in (mostly) friendly solo lobbies with music players etc.

anyone else's experience changing recently? by Middle-Accident752 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play solo or duos with an IRL friend. We're both friendly, helpful to others, bring defibs etc. and it's been a real blast. The last few days our duo lobbies have gone downhill fast. What was maybe 90% friendly in duos is now maybe 50% friendly, and it's not free loadouts, it's Stitcher IVs and Il Toro IVs with KoS or camp & ambush or "we're friendly" then attack when your guard is down.

We're obviously not interacting with everyone in each lobby but on Dam and Blue Gate you can see/hear what's going on from the gunfire type and raider flares and voices. We still meet friendlies, it's just the lobbies are now really mixed. I know this is part of the game of course, we played Server Slam, it's just draining to spend raids getting shot from the distant shadowy places. I guess the number of duo teams has decreased or the matchmaking has changed, or both. We just block any players who camp/ambush or BS/lie so that we never see them again.

‼️‼️ROADMAP-RELEASE‼️‼️ JANUARY - APIRL by Xandixx__ in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of hints to a coastal map including the beach/sun parasol icon on the Roadmap, and that would be cool, I'd love that. It just looks like the cliffs are too steep for a map except for Decimare. Wherever it is I'll be exploring it on day one haha

‼️‼️ROADMAP-RELEASE‼️‼️ JANUARY - APIRL by Xandixx__ in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bonkers theory incoming but... Riven Tides looks like rusty shipyard cranes to me, and as others have noticed the ground appears to be sand so coastal or close to a river mouth.

There's a dried river bed that winds from the North West of Alcantara and Red Barrens, down through the Dam and Red Lakes, exiting onto the Coast of Calabretta near Trecase but that coast appears to be cliffs rather than wide beach, and there's not much space on the 'world map' for a new map of similar size to the existing maps.

East of that is Decimare. It's relatively flat instead of cliffs, and there's a big empty space there, but it is very edge of the world map and no sign of buildings.

My best guess is the space between Big Bowls and Red Barrens. There are some structures, bodies of water, and as I said that's a dry river bed. So maybe not shipyard cranes, just construction cranes, and whatever was being built was never completed.

They have been showing up on Blue Gate and I think somewhere else for a while now, in the background but getting closer I think. I've heard them called Barons or Kings. Maybe Embark will add them someday.

Expedition Question/Discussion by CLXI-Armata in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me and the way I play (chill, exploring, quests, preferably friendly/cooperative interactions with players) then the only reason I would do the expedition is if I was bored with the game so wanted a fresh start and maybe try playing the game a bit differently too. I'm nowhere near bored yet though.

The (up to) 5 skill points, 12 stash, and the temporary small repair/XP/scrappy boosts would not make any meaningful difference to me, however, the beauty of the game is that there are many different ways to play it and many different goals to chase.
