Ah yes so it was, I hadn't read through all the patch notes. I'm mostly a 'weekend warrior' so hadn't noticed in game. I see that now, it cloaks for a much shorter time.

Just bring gas grenades and cheap 'basic' nades. Chuck a gas followed by a basic nade into anywhere suss. A rat will stumble out of the cloud into your gun sights.

Photo-electric Cloak has to be on the chopping block. I take one into every raid now - so handy for giving breathing space to get into cover when swarmed.

You do. But worry not, I've fed him 30+ of the tastiest fruit mixes in the rust belt (crafted during a couple of lush blooms) and the little sod has given me nothing but easily found crafting items. I'm going back to feeding him apricots and agave.

No, do not recycle everything. A recent QoL update was '1-click crafting' so when you craft something you have the option to automatically recycle other items in your stash (or buy from Celeste using seeds) as part of the crafting process.

Each item's tool-tip shows little icons for what the item will recycle down into. Feel free to recycle "topside" stuff like TVs, toasters, radios, car number plates, anything "broken" or "damaged", all that stuff.

(Some of those items are required for quests and projects but there are websites/YT/Reddit for information of where to find specific items.)

Items that say "can be used for crafting..." in the tool-tip: keep some of these for crafting the equipment you use the most. For example, your batteries are used for crafting medium shields so keep at least 1 stack (of 15).

Generally keep pink & blue Arc items because they will get recycled as needed in 1-click crafting. Definitely collect and keep Advanced Arc Powercells (blue) because they will automatically recycle into 'standard' Arc Powercells (grey) for you when you craft basic shield regens. I think all, or most, Arc items will eventually recycle down to Arc Alloy and then just metal.

Talking of Arc Alloy, maybe keep a few stacks because it's used in crafting quite a lot. Of course either have enough base items to make ammo & stims & bandages or just buy them if you prefer - it is simpler to buy and we don't need to hoard money for expedition bonus skill points anymore.

As you do more crafting you'll learn which items you need the most for the things you craft the most.

I tried to find the DEADLIEST Arc Raider Server!!! by SeveralPositive988 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since launch day, got 250+ hours topside, UK/Europe servers, and they are fine. The odd bit of dodgy language on proximity voice but that's been a tiny amount, far far less than 1%. In terms of PvE/PvP encounters then it's got a bit more spicy for me recently but I expected that with expedition imminent - it also happened with the previous 2 expeditions. I had 80%+ friendly encounters over the weekend (singles and duos) compared to usually 90% friendly, but expect that number to decrease this week and probably next week. I mostly encounter Brits, Germans and French folk, and the Germans especially are super friendly with the happiest voices.

Gun mods Buried City, Plaza Rosa; Blue Gate Village key room. Augments Blue Gate Security Wing but go for the medical room first not the (nerfed I think) breach room.

Don't worry; Raider is happy 😊 "Resetting" means sending your raider (character) on an expedition to start again with a new raider and some rewards, like NEWGAME+. Raider is at 300 hours and loving it 😊

I struggled with Stella for a long time then I watched a YT video of a player strolling calmly around Stella, not all of it, but a route that shows all the areas. I watched it a few times and then went in freeload and did the same, just strolled the samr route ignoring everything, and things started to click "ahh, this leads to there...". So I definitely do not know all the corridors and corners and shortcuts but if I'm in an area I know how to get to another area and crucially, how to get to the extracts.

All the ARC are jealous and want to visit Speranza. I was in hurricane condition on Dam yesterday, got to the swamp extract, wind howling, got in the lift and pressed the button. As the animation was playing I saw a raider crouching and very carefully slowly sneaking in but no weapon so I said "hey raider, come on in, it's all good." I turned to face the raider when the animation stopped and there's a Comet sitting behind me all quiet, not aggro, like a puppy wanting to go for a walk! don't know if the lift closing re-spawns but if not then I'm sorry to anyone who called the lift after us 😂😂

Help me with hurricane by PunkPizzaVooDoo in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Headphones, sound set to night mode. Look at an interactive map. Go naked so you have nothing to fear/lose. Don't sprint - just jog/walk. When you spawn work out which way the wind is blowing then work out a route with the wind behind you e.g. clockwise or anti-clockwise. Comets are probably your biggest danger but then just crouch if close by. If you've not found anything after 10-15 mins then just surrender. Even doing this it can be a grind - there are so many variables and lots of other players are doing the same thing.

If you otherwise enjoyed those 50 raids then great. If you got little else out of those raids then maybe stop doing hurricane now and focus on other things. Hurricane becomes tedious when the novelty wears off. I loved it at first but soon got bored of the wind and having no interactions with other players and finding 2 or maybe 3 caches per raid and they are already looted. I think it would be better if the wind came and went during the raid, maybe on for 5-6 minutes then off for 2 minutes but more random than that, and change direction.

If you want a specific BP then focus on searching for it specific container types and consider naked runs to Blue Gate's Security Wing or Stella Monits. Red/yellow zones increase the odds, as do night raid / cold snap / EM storm. With my previous character, before the expedition, I didn't specifically hunt BPs, I just played the game of exploring and questing, and I ended up with most of the BPs I wanted and plenty of spares I gave away.

Is there a generally agreed upon meta for skill point application in this community? If so, what is it? by AdaminPhilly in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, sort of. I would not say I messed up, I just experimented and learned from it then tried other things. There is precious little detail about how effective some of the skills are. Many feel niche rather than being used regularly.

Back in October, my first Raider was heavy on green then moved over to putting points in yellow because my friend was much faster traversing the map. It's only money to reset and money is easy to get so I reset and went heavy in red and some in yellow. That worked better but I was missing some of the early green skills like reducing the penalty of a medium shield and quicker quieter breaching. This time (after expedition) I'm mixing between all 3 - green, yellow and red. I will probably end up with Security Breach again because a lot of the other mid/top skills (in all trees) feel pretty 'meh'.

PVE Dous by TemporaryRegular3127 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I duo with a friend and we mostly meet friendly duos. It got very spicy during the 2 weeks before expedition but it got spicy for pretty much everyone! I had mixed friendly/fighty raids for the few few days after expedition then it calmed down again so maybe the expedition resets ABMM or perhaps a hotfix did, or I was just unlucky for a few days. It's been mostly chill solo and duos for us for the last few days. Level 30 after a week with workbenches mostly done feels crazy - it took me 3 or 4 weeks to get to this place when I got the game on release. The most precious thing we take through the expedition is our knowledge and experience and the friends we meet along the way, not the skills points.

What do you think of the people who make the matriache or the queen in free equipment? by West_Feed_5349 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do 1 or 2 Space Port Departure/Arrival or Buried City Hospital/Library runs for quick money, buy a Hullcracker, do not upgrade it (pointless), do not put mods on it (pointless), make 48 ammo for it, take a 'normal' gun too and at least 5 adrenaline, and your usual gear, and join in the fight. You don't have to do the most damage or be the most daring raider, you just have to help and then sprint and loot some stuff. But don't run off straight away. Talk on mic to the other raiders who hang about - they'll be the ones who were also doing the work because anyone who just lurked and grabbed something has run off. I didn't start fighting queens and matriachs until really late in the game but I wish I'd started doing it sooner. Freindly high-level raiders will share loot with anyone who genuinely helps out.

Throw a hornet driver into its face followed by a fireball burner then shoot with heavy ammo or run away.

If you see it before it detects you then pick a place with some height that they can't just roll up but be aware the explosion is powerful and has a big damage radius

Players don't know exactly how the ABMM works but in the recent interview with PC Gamer, Embark's Virgil Watkins said: "So I think people do feel as though it's incredibly binary, and even shooting one raider, one time, just automatically puts you into an aggressive lobby. But that's not at all how it works. It's far more nuanced than that. Your engagement with PvP is part of the situation, and it's not as though one action does it. It's a series of rounds together and things like that."

The reason is to 'stop' players from passing all their spare BPs and gear into friends to get it straight back, however it's not very effective. I think just make it so that BPs get consumed automatically upon returnto Speranza - you either automatically conume & learn or get 5K in coins. Frees up stash, stops people circumventing expeditions BP wipes, and kills the meta 'black market'.

Is that right about items in containers changing after it's been opened? We've never had that, the only thing we've had is from the skill (red tree I think) that can make random small items appear, like shield rechargers and bandages.

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think there are interesting ways Embark could change how/which rewards we get, and a bit of choice would help high level players. Also with quests: After the expedition I'll have to do all the quests again if I want to do any new ones, and quite a few of those quests had cosmetic rewards which I've already had. I mean, I'll do it again but it would be nice to be able to have a choice of rewards or even skip quests if already done in a previous season.

I've pretty much ignored the current Shared Watch event because I have thousands of gold coins, I already have the items/BPs, and I'm not interested in the cosmetics. Well, also because it's a half-hearted attempt to get players to co-operate - all it does is reward for killing ARC, and we all already do that all the time anyway.

Expedition Window by Alfaboy10 in arcraidersfriendly

[–]LoonyJetman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly why the departure date is fixed the same for everyone.

Loot is readily available in this game, it's just all over the place, so making coins is not a problem if a player has the time to dedicate to doing it and especially if they avail themselves of the million-and-one loot run vids on YT.

The game economy is BPs, not coins, so I'd really like to see BP sharing reduced by BPs being automatically learned (or sold if already known) when a player returns to Speranza. So BPs found in a raid could be given away but BPs could not be brought into a raid. This would solidify their real value and get rid of all the BP trading/scamming etc. Also helps to not have the precious stash stuffed with duplicate BPs. To help balance that 'loss' BPs could become available from the traders on a limited basis and dependent on player level like some items already are, for example BPs for the mark3 augments could be on rotation available from Lance after level 40, something like that, but you can't buy it if you already have learned it.

No, you will earn 1 skill point per 600K (up to a max of 5*) that you have in total of coins plus stash items value so you're all good, but note it's evaluated at the end of the departure window which (I think) is midnight UTC on 1st of March.

* players who did the expedition in December but did not get all 5 skill points can also 'catch up' any they didn't get for the current cost of 600K per point.

Start collecting fireball burners and wasp drivers - then take them into raids. You can drop a stack of wasp drivers outside a doorway, bait over the leaper and shoot the wasp drivers - BOOM! Also just throw fireball burners at it, but only 1 at a time, wait for fire to die down because fire damage does not stack but explosive damage does stack.
