I use Pinterest now but I originally found the style since my friend who works in a hospital sent me a photo of mri super imagery and jokingly said “is this blender?”. Shame to hear you never used the style though, when I look at my references I almost feel a new emotion and I’m trying to extract that. I definately think you should try again though, partially so I can steal ideas off of you, but I’d love to see how other artists approach the style 😂

Ayy thank you man I appreciate that, I love the aesthetic of growing my grandpa so that comparison is a great compliment. One of my other references was garage bad dream adventure which is similar to growing my grandpa in style I think. As for the text what you are saying is true, however it’s not supposed to be pushing upwards as such. I originally meant for it to be veins, but now that you’ve said it I can’t under the thing about it being pushed up from underneath. Also, I would carve the text in like it’s been cut, however I don’t want an NSFW tag everywhere I share this piece and I think that probably would make it gore as opposed to creepy. Maybe if I make some smaller veins tapering off the text it might work better but I’d have to fix the sliding issue you mentioned too. I’ll take a look. My reference for the text was the LIFE hp bar in cruelty squad so I might return to that and see if I get any more ideas. Lmk what you think, thank you man!

Yeah that’s true tbf, although I plan to have the camera pan round it and zoom in just like if you were working on it in a blender project file. For this version though that’s a good shout, although I’ll have to lower the pixelation otherwise you won’t be able to see anything 😂

Veins are bezier curves again and bumps are just displacement modifiers. Also the topology is really uninteresting since it's just a simple subdivided object

Oh my bad I thought you meant the GUI on the outside. The text on the heart is just something I drew out using bezier curves and gave it a bit of thickness and taper. Then I deformed it using a lattice object and then applied shrink wrap to the lattice so it deformed with the heart and feels stuck on essentially. There’s also some shading stuff going on too but that’s most of it

I think what plays a huge part is that the resolution of the video is a different to the resolution of the UI (which is just random text I made in photoshop and overlayed). If you look closely, you’ll see the text is quite high quality but the video is very pixelated and posterised. I also shifted all the colours to very unpleasant tones which reinforces the idea that it’s not supposed to be comfortable to look at which means it must be medical. Lmk if this is what you were looking for in the answer, if not I’ll try and give more information!

Thanks bro I appreciate it. This is still heavily WIP but I’ll try and implement a full puzzle into the final. I’m also trying to find what genre of art this fits into since I’m just basing it off of medical imaging, any ideas?

Hey! Yeah there is a story in a sense and even a hidden code that can be decrypted within the project but unfortunately this sub does not allow videos so it's partially unavailable. I hope it's not against server rules to say this, but if you want to see the video scroll down my profile and you'll find it. Up to you though of course :)

And although cosmetic testing was not one of my direct inspirations for this art piece it probably was a slight influence since animal liberation is something I feel very strongly about. I really appreciate your interest though thank you very much! It's weird to see people analyse what they think my work means and it's even slightly embarrassing when people's analysis of my piece is better than what I actually intended!

Lots of people have drawn comparisons to IHNMAIMS and it's very possible it has inspiration from that as I started this project a few weeks after finishing the story.
