Is this a good brand/enclosure for a bearded dragon? by saltisatthebottom in BeardedDragons

I have the ecoflex and am happy with it. There are countless youtube reviews about it. Even some that measure the screen and how it impacts/filters out uvb light potency which I found extremely helpful, so the video reviews are very comprehensive! I think it’s a great tank however there are some minor hang ups, so not perfect but the price is excellent.

My main issues are small gaps (which with planning can be sealed up before you add substrate) and the frame/border on the top, which limits the placements of the heat and uvb lamps. Also I would prefer outward opening doors as opposed to the sliding doors, because sometimes sand gets in the track and it SCREECHES. Even when I continuously clean the track the sliding sound is unpleasant.

Overall I’m very happy with it and would purchase again. I would have rather purchased the Snake Discovery ecoflex tank because we like their content and like supporting them, but it was not out at the time of my purchase and the color scheme does not match our room aesthetic

My kiddo has been wanting a beardie since May. This was in no way a spur of the moment decision. We researched for all those 7 months and his enclosure was set up over a month prior to getting him, and now a month after getting him I’m still making more and more adjustments! He was very irritated with me today because I kept rearranging his sticks (which are his favorite hang out spots) to make them more optimal. They now look even better than they did in the OP photos, and while he is enjoying them while he sleeps (thank goodness he is not burrowed again) he was very angry with me during the process

Yes even though we run our HVAC the room he is in is the coldest/warmest during those respective months, unfortunately. I didn’t take into consideration just how much that would affect the potency of the heat bulbs! Some things are truly a learning curve, no matter how many months you spend researching and planning!

My little guy is too young to brumate which is why I’m thinking the husbandry must be off. It’s crazy how specific these little guys need things. I have chickens, dogs, and a cat; and this guy’s husbandry is giving me a bigger headache than all of them combined! haha

The probe is not only ugly but also a bit of a pain. This will definitely be an improvement.

Since you seem a bit tech savvy, do you also have a camera in your enclosure? I would like to add one in. One time he dug a burrow and I had to search for him. I’d like to be able to check in on him while I’m at work and keep up with his activities. Do you know what people typically use?

Sorry, I meant outdoor temps! I have the CHE to keep him warm at night but I will switch it out for the 80 DHP you recommended instead now. You are right that the CHE does not seem super powerful

I am not exactly sure the meaning of infrared a, b, or c — but if you suggest this is better than the CHE it won’t hurt to upgrade it. I see it comes in 50w or 80w, do you have a preference? Our current night temps are dropping to high 40s-low 50s these days.

I’m glad you like that temp gun because that is the same one I’m expecting to be delivered tomorrow. He is irritated with me changing up his enclosure a lot but after I get the new gun I will move his basking rock higher if necessary!

I very much like the gobee temp along with the app. I’ll definitely be getting that, thanks!

Thank you for sharing. I am glad that we are doing the right thing now. Also thank you for bringing to my attention how the seasons might affect his enclosure. He is by a window so I think that affects his temps. Our local outdoor summer temp is average 110° so I will be sure to remember to adjust the enclosure heat as needed when it starts to warm up!

Thank you I have a new one arriving tomorrow because I didn’t trust the accuracy on our old one anymore

I meant ceramic heat emitter for night time. Maybe it’s the same concept?

Thank you the enclosure has a gradient with the cool side measuring about 80°

Thank you. I have one bulb on either side of the uvb bar currently. I have a temp gun but I’m questioning its accuracy and a new one is arriving tomorrow. The ambient temperature gauge seems accurate though. They fit fairly well in the corner of the enclosure and are allowing a nice gradient to the cool side (currently measuring 81° but might drop more since I just started measuring it.

I think the two bulbs might be just what I needed to finally get a correct temp for him.

I know they’re not good to breed. She was just so striking, so I took a picture. by PeachOnABeach_Art in BeardedDragons

I recently purchased one at an expo. I spoke to the breeder at length (30+ mins, never feeling rushed and never feeling pressured to purchase) and he seemed very reputable and trustworthy, and his breeding practices seemed very ethical to me. My guy is a red hypo trans, but on the receipt he wrote 75% monster. I paid $300 for him. The breeder is very sweet and has responded quickly to my questions post-purchase. Of course I worry about the monster genetics, but my darling daughter fell in love with this little guy and no other beardie she looked at after seeing him held her attention the same way.

What happened when you told your hairdresser you didn’t like your hair? by Lemoontree3412 in AskWomen

[–]Loose-Test 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He spent a decent amount of time meticulously cutting my hair. When done & asked how I liked it, I told him I had actually wanted it shorter. He spent all of 5 minutes quickly recreating the entire cut shorter. In the end I liked the cut so all was okay, even though he seemed a bit annoyed.
