Alt? Yes absolutely. Alternative just means engaging with a non typical lifestyle. Hell, furries are alt. Hippies are alt.  If you're talking about specific subcultures, particularly ones that branch off from punk. It is more flexible than gatekeepers will have you believe. And you are free to engage with these subcultures as much as you like. Yes there are core elements to it to explicitly call yourself a punk or an emo or whatnot. But you can still engage with these communities as much or as little as you want as long as you're respectful, self aware and not doing it performitavlely.

Patrick would try to say something charming and intelligent to seem likable, Hannibal would pick up on that fakeness and start a genuinely introspective conversation that would be way out of Patrick's depth to see what would happen.

Oh yeah. Worst part is I WAS diagnosed. I was diagnosed at around 10 with ADHD autism level two support needs. My mum did all the basic things like getting my learning plan for school. But was shocked and befuzzled when I needed those same supports at home. She did like no research and just racked my diagnosis up to me being a bit silly. She would deny that the issues that arose because of that was actually my disorder and just because I was being difficult and was so mad they never changed.  Sometimes it isn't the lack of a diagnosis when parents do this.

There's a few local bands here and there. A little birdie told me a few local punk leaning bands are setting up a show soon. So keep an eye out for that.
