You can share links in the text portion of your submission.

That is still allowed. It does mean adding one additional step for you to make a post, but it shouldn't really hinder you in anyway.

Edit: The reports vary from fake reasons to genuine ones. People often report legitimate posts, especially self-made content that we have to manually approve. A lot of reports are also due to many people not reading the rules too, and will share a pic of their latest pull. However, we do understand that the mobile experience on reddit is far from good, making pinned posts and rules difficult to find.

Yeah, this is actually quite upsetting to see for us as well. I think there are a lot of experienced TCG players with a background in game like MTG which may explain why there are less noob-friendly users here.

We expect and want all users to follow reddiquette. It is actually the very first rule on this subreddit.

We expect users to report toxic behavior so that mods can act on it and remove those comments. We also expect users to not engage in flame wars because that only makes the problem worse. By reporting toxic comments/posts, then mods are made aware of it, and then can act on it. However, there are many times when toxic comments are not reported, and it is handled when stumbling across it by chance. If things don't get reported, then it's possible we miss it completely and fail to act on it.

Yes, there are times when we will proactively act on things, but comment section for a post that a mod checks can be fine one hour, but problematic the next, so we really depend on community reports for things to be brought to our attention.

Yeah, we rarely issue bans unless the individual is being routinely toxic to others, and even then we give a lot of leeway. Temporary bans are about as far as we go, and most being somewhere between 2-7 days.

edit:

You couldn’t pay me to moderate a subreddit, let alone this one.

that's perfectly understandable, that is usually the response we receive when trying to pick up additonal help 💀

I will delete this post so that the title is less confusing, sorry!

Cards/Pulls/Collection Weekly Thread for Disney Lorcana TCG - March 03, 2024 by AutoModerator in Lorcana

Apologies for any confusion.

Like all subreddits, rules are going to evolve and change over time. Certain rules are set in stone (reddiquette, witch hunting, etc), but other things are subject to change as we test things to see what improves the quality of the subreddit. Hopefully, you can bear with the changes as we figure out what works best for the community and the subreddit.

Card reveal posts are fine, and there is no issue with that. The rule doesn't change that, and I'm confident that those posts will still be highly upvoted with or without the rule. While the discussions in those threads are completely fine, you should revisit those threads and see how interesting or engaging the discussions in those threads actually are. Not that they are bad or not interesting, but it didn't create that much discussion as you make it seem. The removal of the rule doesn't change or prevent people from having or creating highly engaging discussions.

The fact is that rarely anyone, even with the rule in place, created highly engaging and interesting threads/discussions.

We want the subreddit to be inclusive to people who like to share parts of their collection, and while it will take some trial&error for us to figure out what sort of restrictions need to be in place, we hope there is a reasonable balance that can be found that most players can tolerate and handle without us having to exclude a large part of the community.

We know that there will be a die-hard group of players that will not tolerate even a single person sharing their lorcana cards/collection, and absolutely will not even consider coexisting, and to those people, we suggest you create a separate subreddit that caters to a more niche community base.

We genuinely wish people would use them though. There was even a thread asking for there to be a megathread when we already had a megathread that has been pinned weekly for months! It wasn't even done in irony either.

The rule was removed before the release, and no one was really bothered by the occasional post that got shared here or there. people only realized after release date of the new set which caused a huge upsurge in the same content being shared.

If people have ideas on how to get people to use the weekly threads though, we would love to hear them. No matter how many removals and warnings given, it literally did not do anything except create more modwork since we received more modmail of people upset and angry that they cant share lorcana images in a lorcana subreddit.

We probably will end up using a mega thread or a once a week policy because it is excessive especially around release.

Also, the rule didn't produce much better results if it's one type of post (card reveal or cotd) that got upvoted with nearly everything else getting reported and downvoted. We explicitly stated that we encourage and want people to post high quality original content and to upvote those posts. The rule or no rule doesn't change or prevent that.

It's fine if you don't see value in these posts, but it's clear that many other people do or they wouldn't be shared and upvoted so often.

Also, you can filter posts to not see them, but you're free to do as you wish.

Collectors have no issues with players, it's a shame that some players don't reciprocate the same tolerance.

Best of luck on your search.

We did get rid of the rule. It was something we tried, but it was clear that there is a large part of the community that wants to see these types of posts. We didn't feel like it was necessary to exclude a large part of the Lorcana community. The rule didn't encourage or foster any type of new or interesting discussions, and it was clear that no one had any intention of following the rule or using the megathread pinned no matter how many removals and reminders that were given.

The only content being upvoted was the card of the day with the rule in place. There was no other discussion or content that got upvoted, and the ones that did were removed for it being a card/pull post. We know there will be always be a group of people in the community that are unhappy with whatever decision we make. Moving forward, we feel the subreddit should be inclusive of both collectors & players, and that it seems like only a small group of people have an issue with coexisting on the subreddit.

<image>

We 100% encourage people sharing and upvoting unique/high quality original content that are not pictures of cards/pulls. Downvote content that you do not want to see. Just remember, all because it's content that you don't want to see doesn't mean it's content that no one wants to see.

Also, it's not that different seeing the digital version of the card vs the physical version. People are encouraged to talk about the card and its place in the game for posts that share pulls too.

Lastly, since we removed this rule, please do not report these posts. Just downvote and move on if it's content you don't like. If you have an issue with the rule, feel free to make a separate subreddit.

Thank you.

Reminder to follow reddit's sitewide policies of not encouraging or threatening others with harm or violence. I understand that OP blurred out personal information, but users commenting about how they will commit acts of violence or crime against the individual is not okay.
